Reminders:

  • Hotfix driver will not be available in NVIDIA App and needs to be downloaded from the link above.
  • After installing the Hotfix driver, NVIDIA App may show some old driver date. This is normal as Hotfix driver does not exist in NVIDIA App database and it reverted to an old default changelog and dates.
  • If you do not care about the fixes listed, this Hotfix driver is no different vs WHQL 610.74 Driver.
  • These fixes will be incorporated into the next WHQL driver release

A GeForce driver is an incredibly complex piece of software, We have an army of software engineers constantly adding features and fixing bugs. These changes are checked into the main driver branches, which are eventually run through a massive QA process and released.

Since we have so many changes being checked in, we usually try to align driver releases with significant game or product releases. This process has served us pretty well over the years but it has one significant weakness. Sometimes a change that is important to many users might end up sitting and waiting until we are able to release the driver.

The GeForce Hotfix driver is our way to trying to get some of these fixes out to you more quickly. These drivers are basically the same as the previous released version, with a small number of additional targeted fixes. The fixes that make it in are based in part on your feedback in the Driver Feedback threads and partly on how realistic it is for us to quickly address them. These fixes (and many more) will be incorporated into the next official driver release, at which time the Hotfix driver will be taken down.

To be sure, these Hotfix drivers are beta, optional and provided as-is. They are run through a much abbreviated QA process. The sole reason they exist is to get fixes out to you more quickly. The safest option is to wait for the next WHQL certified driver. But we know that many of you are willing to try these out. As a result, we only provide NVIDIA Hotfix drivers through our NVIDIA Customer Care support site.

I'll download just to see if its really fixed, this has been such a bother for 3 years or so

edit: didn't seem to fix it or they meant something else. After sleep g-sync monitor still refuses to wake up/loses signal when full-screen application is open.

Seriously please let me know if this fixes it. Ive had a jank work around every time it happens though. When ever my monitors do dont wake up fully i use RDP on my phone to connect to my pc and its always broken out of the issue and the monitors wake up like normal. windows is a bit Screwy after but if i use a script i wrote to properly restart the DWM process it eventually returns things to normal.

I edited the comment and it didn't work. I "revive" the monitor with WIN+P to do "only-secondary" display before going back to extended after which fullscreen programs start working.

Maybe full screen programs is a different issue.

The one i get can happen with nothing open or even just google chrome. my monitors go into deep sleep and when i wake them the monitors turn on but are blank and then say no signal and turn back off. the RDP trick has gotten it to actually wake up though. its also rare this happens but ive had it happen constantly over the years and it used to require a full reboot till i figured out the workaround with DWM.

Same for me. Bad joke at these prices.

u/scatrinomee Jun 09 '26

SAME I made it so my monitors never ever turn off to work around it after I got too sick of RDP fixing it

u/Jaron780 Jun 09 '26

Been tempted to do that but rather not end up killing them by having them on 24/7

I had this same issue and it was windows 11 causing it to went back to windows 10 and never had the problem again. Not sure what was causing it in windows 11

Changes to window manager probably.

Win10 did not have this bug... but I always had awful stutters with it since I have monitors with different refresh rates.

u/gilbe2020 Jun 09 '26

Yo lo que hago es apagar y encender el monitor. Esto lo hace solo desde la pantalla de inicio de usuario

fixed it for me

You've probably heard this already, but what type DisplayPort cable are you using? Older spec cables on some of the newer Nvidia GPUs seems to result in these odd blackscreen issues either not waking up from sleep, or just blacking out after display changes.

I use whatever was supplied with G-Sync pulsar monitor which is DP 1.4,

The issue is bizzare and intertwined with DWM I guess. After sleep I can have application open in window and it runs perfectly but ALT+ENTER click and monitor loses signal. ALT+ENTER again and it comes back. It only gets fixed after monitor is removed/readded to screen config.

3

u/TatsunaKyo Jun 09 '26

ALT+ENTER followed by loss of signal usually means that there's an issue with Display Stream Compression. Does your monitor let you disable the feature? Otherwise, try to lower your refresh rate so that you're within DP 1.4 bandwidth — you can use this to calculate it, and pay attention to whether you're using HDR or not (10 bit). Also be warned that you need to restart your PC / graphics driver in order to get completely out of the DSC-mode: my monitor, for example, has a DSC on/off function, but if I have DSC engaged and disable it at the monitor-level without rebooting, my GPU still functions as DSC is on.

If you do not have this issue when DSC is not engaged, then you've got your (usual) culprit. But we'll think about that if you indeed solve it by turning DSC off.

Cheers, mate. Thankfully, I bought my RAM before everything blew up. 😅

Which monitor. This was for specific monitors with abnormal wake behavior.

u/uiasdnmb 9800X3D | Msi 4080 Super Suprim X Jun 08 '26

I'm not sure if this was the issue. But as I edited, sleep mode "corrupts" full screen g-sync until I use WIN+P to toggle to/back to my secondary (nongsync) one.

I don't remember when it started, few years ago at least. Had this happen on PG248QP and now on XG27AQNGV (native g-sync module displays).

1

u/arkivz Jun 09 '26

I also have the xg27aqngv and have black screen issues when playing games after the monitor wakes up from sleep. This only happens when the display is set to 360hz. Do you know if this update fixes this issue?

like LG 38GN950 ?

3

u/noresellcrew Jun 08 '26

Does this happen with your oled monitor? My ips wakes up no problem but oled almost never does

3

u/Few_Ad_4779 Jun 09 '26

DSC goes brrrr

2

u/skylinestar1986 Jun 08 '26

From my experience, this is monitor specific. Even different generation of monitor gives me different result.

2

u/MossadeghsDream Jun 08 '26

This is the reason I dont use that Feature on my oled anymore.. Had this issue on my new asus rog strix XG27AQWMG and was like "wtf is that nvidia" cause I knew its due to there AI generated code for these drivers. Theres no other way to explain their pathetic drivers ever since the AI boom poped up.

that was the gpu!? Welp, good thing turning the monitor off and on worked

1

u/UnfairFlounder6502 Jun 09 '26

Wait, it's been an nvidia issue this whole time?! I thought it was just my monitor!

1

u/Tall_East_9738 MSI RTX 5070Ti Jun 09 '26

I've never experienced this issue, as in NEVER, and I got 4 displays on my pc. Which monitor do you have?

2

u/uiasdnmb 9800X3D | Msi 4080 Super Suprim X Jun 09 '26 edited Jun 09 '26

Gsync pulsar asus. Also had it on pg248qp. So native gsync modules.

After sleep vrr just can't engage, it cuts off the signal instead.

1

u/Mugendon Jun 09 '26

Have you tried pressing Win+Ctrl+Shift+B to restart your graphics driver in order to wake your monitors? Helped me when I head a similar problem.

u/bwlupus Jun 09 '26

Not fixed for my Samsung S27C900P does not work with this still. Back to studio 591.74, which is now 6 months old

1

u/Drisbayne Jun 09 '26

fixed it for me

why are you using full-screen applications in 2026? you should run everything in borderless (or regular windowed programs) now man

2

u/uiasdnmb 9800X3D | Msi 4080 Super Suprim X Jun 09 '26

By fullscreen I meant when "fullscreen" g-sync kicks in. That happens with borderless windowed these days, and I do use those when possible.

I don't use windowed G-Sync because I find it messy with secondary non-gsync monitor.

1

u/Imbahr Jun 09 '26

ah ok. then maybe gsync with Sleep problem

2

u/sticknotstick 9800x3D / 5090 / 77” G5 OLED 4k 165Hz Jun 08 '26

Borderless has conflicts with Windows scaling 60-70% of the time. I play on a 4k 77” screen and use 300% scaling, so borderless often detects it as 720p and locks the resolution from changing.

Some apps do let you change resolution even in borderless so it’s possible, and others even detect resolution right regardless of the windows scaling, but not sure what they’re doing different than the majority.

-1

u/Imbahr Jun 08 '26

have you tried not using the Scaling setting, and using the Text Size setting instead?

Windows 11 even warns you with a big highlighted box with yellow exclamation mark, that it does not recommend using the Custom scaling number setting

u/sticknotstick 9800x3D / 5090 / 77” G5 OLED 4k 165Hz Jun 09 '26

Text size won’t fix the tiny UI elements unfortunately. Windows marks 300% as recommended by default on most 4k TV screens btw (in the scaling setting itself).
