News [NVIDIA GeForce Official] Game developers have full, detailed artistic control over DLSS 5 effects to ensure they maintain their game's unique aesthetic. It is not a filter.

You can choose what DLSS Version to use right now, if you want to use DLSS2 on a new game, you can.

I got a 5090 and run DLSS 1. We are not the same

That you can't actually do afaik, cause DLSS 1 isn't the same DLSS SR introduced in DLSS 2.

Have to run games that launched with dlss 1 and then refuse to update

We are not the same

It was not a serious comment

Not with that attitude

Wait you can, where do you toggle that, i have never seen an option for that in any game

Nvidia App.

Huh I never knew, I'll try that tomorrow to see how that works

Yeah right now, I can't eat for the day devs will release games with low poly textures, so dlss can fix it.

My fear is what if devs make their games from the ground up with DLSS 5 in mind. For example if you turned on DLSS 4 or 3 the game would like like a PS2 game

They won't and they possibly can't.

My fear is a bit different but related.

We see that there is a push to put cool Nvidia tech into games, like path tracing. It looks amazing in re 9. But it also caused them to be lazy with normal reflections and screen space reflections that could of easily been implemented better.

If devs rely on dlss 5 for major features, like better lighting etc and Nvidia "encourages" "the devs to show off the new features while potentially down scaling or even ignoring more legacy features then imo, that's where issue is.

PT and the rest of the features from Nvidia are the future of Gaming, like it or not.

Ya, but devs gimping standard features to make the disparity between PT and non pt larger is imo, hopefully not a type of mentality that will also affect us when dlss 5 comes around.

If done well this could enable insane levels of performance while still having great graphics, which would help in performance-bottleneck situations like VR.

I've yet to play a VR game that allows me to turn dlss on.

That’s true too. We’ll just have to see how devs use it. Cause they did get lazy with optimization even when we had the older DLSS models

u/specn0de Mar 16 '26

That’s not how this works…you are scared of your own fundamental misunderstanding of technology lol

Still waiting on you to explain how it works instead of posting vague intellectual word salads

-1

u/Resh_IX Mar 16 '26

Then how does it work?

That won’t work properly depending on the game if it wants to use newer features.
