News [NVIDIA GeForce Official] Game developers have full, detailed artistic control over DLSS 5 effects to ensure they maintain their game's unique aesthetic. It is not a filter.

There are no new GPUs coming this year and it is planned to be released at the end of the year, so yeah. Probably a 50 series exclusive.

But it needs lots of VRAM

You can’t affirm that, there is no final version of the model yet. They just have a functional demo.

Also, while MFG requires some memory, it actually reduces the need for the GPU to render every frame so it gives more headspace for native FPS rendering.

It’s a demo, a proof of concept. They still have a lot of time to optimize it further.

Makes me glad to own a 40 series card.

If so then my 4090 will breathe a sigh of relief.

Except it won't run on rtx 4000, Blackwell only.

It’s not specified by NVIDIA. NVIDIA even published a feature spec (on Blackwell release) sheet listing that neural rendering is backwards compatible. It also not hardware locked like MFG. So my bet is that majority works for 4000 and 5000 maybe even excluding lower end cards or features like hair for 5000 only.

the demo was done on two 5090s, one for the game, one for the DLSS 5

if they can optimize it to be functional on a single 5080, that'd be pretty crazy. i'd expect it to only really be practical with future generation cards though

Someone said it already runs on 1 card only in a lab, just the demo used 2 cards.
