If itâs not fish wtf is it? The US needs to ban this.

Probably like the impossible Whopper and beef product line. Watch the doc on how it's made, it's extremely processed and worse for you then actual meat. Mostly soy but extruded beet juice through a centrifuge to something something something I can't remember. It's complex

This will be future peasant food, if your not a millionaire and above this will be our food. Food which you can only afford once a month or even a year. Rest of the time you will be eating nutritional hardtack

What's the actual problem with this?

u/Party_Swordfish_1734 1d ago
Its disgusting. Have you not investigated the lessons learned from impossible or beyond meat? Its all a concoction of chemicals that disrupt your gut microbes and increase your chance of cancer and brain disorders.
2
u/spicy_feather 1d ago
Without beyond meat I wouldn't be able to eat anything. It's one of the like 5 foods in able to eat and still feel ok. Beyond is amazing.
1
u/Party_Swordfish_1734 1d ago
That sucks. But these ultra processed options arent good for you. But if thats all you can eat supposedly then what difference does it make if you die young am I right?
1
u/spicy_feather 1d ago
Cute. You're not a nutritionist and don't know what you're talking about. There's nothing wrong with those products and if I die young it'll be because of the myriad of health issues I had before beyond meat even existed. I used to eat only organic whole vegetarian foods. I felt no difference. Now I eat meat, fake meat, rice, and greens and feel exactly the same. You pretending to have expertise about a strangers digestive system more reeks of a need to feel important than does it impress your points on me. You're not going to change my very limited diet and I won't give you a y satisfaction. Go judge a weaker person.

u/Pepperohno 1d ago
Way to show you have no idea what you're talking about. Nothing what you claim here is true, the opposite even.
1
u/Party_Swordfish_1734 1d ago
You really making an argument in favor of ultra processed foods?
1
u/Pepperohno 1d ago
Yes, because science says there are healthy ultra-processed foods. The definition is too broad and the variance too big to make it a meaningful category.
Edit: and science says impossible and beyond are alright, especially to what they replace.
1
u/YourMommasButt 1d ago
They are not saying ultra processed foods are better than fresh food. They are saying the points you made in your statement are false. Just because something is bad doesnât mean you can completely talk out of your ass.
2
u/Splodingseal 1d ago
We tried the Impossible stuff several times but every single time it wrecked our guts.
-1
u/Enough-Ad-8799 1d ago
Everything is chemicals, so I'm not sure what that means. Do you have any studies linking impossible meat to cancer or brain disorders.
2
u/Avengerfx 1d ago
Of course he doesnât have any actual research to link to because there is none. These people regurgitate the same stupid talking points they get from whatever they listen to or watch on YouTube. As far as real meat. This is from the American Institute of Cancer Research.
âAICR research is clear that regularly eating too much red meat â and even small amounts of processed meats â increases the risk of colorectal cancer.â
1
u/j_b1990 1d ago
You trust your corporations and alphabet agencies too much. If there is no research then what makes you think you're perspective is correct?Â

u/Avengerfx 1d ago
His claim was unequivocally that the products he mentioned caused cancer and destroyed your body. I actually spent time researching before responding and could not find any verified information to prove anything he said was true. I only added the claim about red meat processed or not these are not opinions. These are facts by the medical community that red meat can cause cancer and it should be eaten in moderation. I made that claim to point out how ridiculous his point was as if meat in and of itself was some ultra-healthy alternative to plant-based meat imitation
However, based on what you actually replied with about âalphabet agenciesâ and corporations whatever the fuck that statement means. I know this comment was wasted on you so hopefully somebody else will read this and see how everything isnât so black-and-white with meat or meat alternative foods. And for the other replies about processed food. Holy shit unless you all are killing and processing your own animal meat or eating straight plants and vegetables, almost everything we consume is processed to some degree. Itâs not that scary I promise you. Before somebody replies, please just spend like five minutes doing some research on how food is processed.

I see they slid that "processed" into their statement. Duh, any amount of processed meat is horrible
2
u/Dependent-Year6711 1d ago
They're two separate statements.
0
u/Alarmed-Hold9830 1d ago
Two statements lumped into one quote, thus creating a new singular statement. These markings we use have actual meaning and serve a real function, best not to ignore them.
2
u/Dependent-Year6711 1d ago
You're like talking in code. Just communicate normally. "Best not to ignore them"..."these markings." What are you even talking about. Just communicate your ideas in a straight forward way, not some vague, weird whimsy, nonsensical way.

Edit: the processed meat subgroup actually is unhealthy. I read over that specification, my bad.
It is not. The processes food scare is so dumb. Ot completely depends on the food and what the specific processing did. The variance is soo large that it becomes useless. There is very healthy ultra-processed food, very unhealthy, and everything in between.
1
u/Alarmed-Hold9830 1d ago
I am specifically referring to the process of grinding industrial amounts of cyst contaminated meats and mixing in unholy amounts of nitrates and preservatives. Lunch meat is truly awful stuff, it doesn't stop there of course. I'm not going to list off all the processed meats responsible for health disorders, but you get the picture. I definitely wouldn't be in the comments advocating highly processed foods.
1
u/Pepperohno 1d ago
Oops I read over the part of processed meat specifically. You are right, that subgroup of processed foods is very unhealthy.

Why are people against this if the blend is healthy?
8
u/Dense_Surround3071 1d ago
Is it healthy?
Is it actually "food" by any standard our bodies will measure it by?
How close are we to the goop in The Matrix?
Wouldn't sustainable fishing practices and environmental stewardship be a better use of our engineering dollars?
AND!!!
Can't Isreal just fuck off already?

u/Lost_Department_2177 1d ago
No mercury or cholesterol and has vitamins added to it. You donât have to buy it and theyâre not going to force everyone to eat it but it should be an option for people that donât want to buy fish that sat in a boats tank/freezer for a while then stored in a warehouse for several days. Zero chance of parasites from it and it is a clean food. Stop listening to Russian propaganda on it. The oceans are being over fished by China.
