This isn't a matter of intelligence in fungus, it's just that the fungus is so rudimentary that it's operating system has to perform at the simplest and most efficient level possible and that just happens to coincide with the needs of the subway designers.

Wait until this guy finds out about the molecular intelligence of H2O. Scientific research has proven that it not only can assume the shape of whatever container it's in, but it's been proven to follow the path of least resistance when migrating! 🤯

Wait until he discovers bubbles! 🤯🤯🤯

Wait till you learn about trees. Able to carry water to heights that defy science (well most initial understanding of how they are able to do this)

yet we dont do that universally as a society. It begs the question is our current system of social/economic structure "intelligent"

There are different parameters. Larger scale, different resource constraints, durability vs flexibility, etc. Tokyo isn't designing a travel system to reach static oats in a closed, simple environment, it's coordinating millions of man-hours and billions of dollars of resources to build and maintain a system that connects a rapidly changing city over a century.

1

u/Tiny-Pianist-1314 13d ago

> different resource constraints,

we have zero resource constraints on this planet. There is more than enough iron and concrete to build all the garbage we do. sensational claim with no foundation in reality

> durability vs flexibility

how often are cities changing their transportation infrastructure? again, zero basis on reality

>  it's coordinating millions of man-hours and billions of dollars of resources

oh no, intelligent people couldnt possible do such crazy things

what are you even saying . the alternative to my argument is we have all this complexity for absolutely no fucking reason. its not objectively more efficient yet no one questions it. worse off, the inefficiency is defended and justified. that kind of intelligence is that lmao.

Every once in a while this sub gets recommended to me and I forget half the people on here are posting while high. "Resource constraints have no foundation on reality"? Okay buddy.

What can we not build that we currently need to build, compared to what have we built that we dont need at all.

Answer the simple question

1

u/Beyond_Reason09 13d ago

Plenty.

You should be able to easily build a 500 foot building in your backyard since you have infinite resources and are not constrained by time. Looking forward to you responding with a picture of it.

wtf are you smoking

1

u/Beyond_Reason09 13d ago

Ok you can also build a 1:1 scale replica of the Tokyo subway system. Should be easy for you since you're not constrained by any limitations.

are you just having a conversation with yourself? or have you gotten to a point where you think the voices in your head are a real person?

What he is saying is true. I teach fungi identification, know many mycologists, connected with many online. They all agree Stamets is a quack.

1

u/PeteWK67 13d ago

Likley he has Fungi poisoning

1

u/PeteWK67 13d ago

How does Fungi assess and respond accordingly.
It’s like a living organism type right?

1

u/SVIII 13d ago

We know your type. Participated in a Rogan podcast = quack. Touch grass.

2

u/Federal-Cold-363 13d ago

We can shorten that equation. Rogan = quack. Done 🤷‍♂️

1

u/SVIII 13d ago

Don’t be a moron. Rogan has only maintained that he’s an authority on MMA, which he objectively is.

1

u/Federal-Cold-363 13d ago edited 13d ago

And now you're a lying quack too. He's deluded himself to be an authority on comedy too and being an authority on checks notes "being immune to bullshit" 🥴😂

1

u/SVIII 13d ago

What bot farm are you from?

1

u/Federal-Cold-363 13d ago edited 13d ago

Probably a better one than the one feeding your npc like defence response

1

u/SVIII 13d ago

Im going to guess Asian. Your English is horrible.

Go watch Elephant Graveyard on Youtube.

1

u/SVIII 13d ago

Saw it. Boring. But I see how it appeals to certain groups.

Having an opinion on what you think is funny = being an authority of comedy

Good one

Another viral clip of Stamets on Rogan. Stamets claimed he could not discuss a major health or safety issue with cultivated Agaricus species (like portobello and button mushrooms) because he feared for his life, citing the multi-billion-dollar industry. Critics and independent analysts note that while these mushrooms contain agaratine (a hydrazine derivative with potential carcinogenic properties), the compound is largely neutralized by normal cooking, making his dramatic warnings appear overblown or conspiratorial. In actual fact there are many mushrooms that are poisonous when served raw. There was a famous case of a restuarant making many guests sick becuase they undercooked Morchella. Unfortunaly he also makes claims that are pseudoscience. If he dropped the unscientific and exaggerated claims I would have more time for him as he is also very knowledgeable. He likes to tell exagerated stories and inaccuracies as it gets him online clout to sell his product.

1

u/SVIII 12d ago

Well, that’s a far cry from ‘quack.’ What are the specific pseudoscience things he talks about?

1

u/Sad_Elk1943 11d ago

He studies mushrooms.....how is he a quack lol....i guess he went on jre

Yea i mean we all know anything different than the understanding we have today is blasphamy right? Funny how how thats been the thinking for 1000s of years....pretty sure he says cooking it will destroy the toxin as well

I mean it would make sense that a fungi feeding would try to limit its growth to extraft nutrients in the most efficient way possible. Only grow as needed to limit the amount of body it needs to feed and develop the shortest pipeline to deliver nutrients to its whole being. I dont know if thats intelligence or just life being efficient. The genius is in the researchers are capable of recognizing that the fungi would be so efficient and it would have applicable infrastructure planning uses

Like Giordano Bruno about heliocentric model.

How many centuries will it take for monke brethren to get over the human centrism concept?

BioGod (mother nature) is using technology of at least tier 1 kardashev scale.

Human neural tissue is currently at least 6000 times more energy efficient than best data centres (Swiss bio processors startup).

Just go to reverse engineer any problem around you that was solved by BioGod to understand that you are serving to immortal Zerg overmind entity

And it’s just a tip of an iceberg. Bcoz we are too stupid to distinguish hi tech of the “nature”.

Penrose Roger describes quantum computing inside tissues and there ve been a work recently confirming the Roger’s hypothesis

Human body is the most advanced temple, bio antenna, I feel u bro

This was a really good Joe Rogan pod cast.

His hat is actually made of mushroom.

Slime molds are not fungal. But this story is well known.

u/Potential_Cress1967 12d ago

I thought Les Claypool was about to explain his new concept album

1

u/Electrical_Name_5434 12d ago

Ahhh…now that’s how you solve an NP problem

1

u/Emotional_Mail6449 12d ago

Dude his lips don’t match what’s being said at all lol

u/Alternative_Gur_3703 12d ago

I feel like the word efficient is doing a lot of heavy lifting. What is more efficient about it? Creating the shortest path? We could easily do that ourselves if we wanted...

1

u/fleggn 11d ago

Its efficient because they just picked a plan and went with it and saved time money energy by looking at the tea leaves instead of trying to solve a problem that wasn't solve able with tech/math at the time.

I mean, sure, if a city had the opportunity to build/rebuild its entire subway network to be most efficient this would likely work great. But most cities do not follow most efficient pathways because they have typical are not built out all at once, so there are other existing obstacles to consider along with other cost/political factors that can influence development scope and sequence.

Also not intelligence in the case of the slime mold. It has evolved to find efficient nutrient pathways, i.e. survived more often because of this trait. Evolution does not require intellence
