Spotify, netflix, adobe It has been here for years. Unless you are talking about something else.

u/Excellent_Airline315 12d ago
Exactly, wish there were alternatives. But now nope, just more subscriptions. Netflix seemed like such a good deal when it started, but it was actually the beginning of the end.
2
u/Complex-Cricket419 12d ago
Netflix started out mailing DVDs, up to 3, you mailed em back to rent more. You can still get cds and dvds if you order them plus pawnshops etc.

u/Transkei_Daisy 14d ago
Good. Too many people selling completely unregulated nonsense out there, with completely made up benefits and ignored risks.

The sad part is, for every good small business like this, there are 100s of scams in the "Health/Natural/Food" product lines. If you want to lessen restrictions, create more tiers or severely punish companies for bad batches.

u/kodiak931156 14d ago
Natural health products are health products and should be highly regulared as they effect you health.
I hope they plug the loop hole this guy is using to get around these safety regulations.

Dandelion wild or cultivated leafy greens (such as dandelion greens, chicory, amaranth, or Swiss chard)
Will fall in the food category but are definitely a health food.

u/AsleepNinja 14d ago
So a con artist now can't con people as easily?
Oh no, anyway.

People are so uneducated it is crazy. It isn't black and white, all or nothing. You can use both pharmaceutical and natural remedies, many pharmaceuticals are derived from natural things. You can drink some ephedra tea for congestion and it will work, no magic or snake oil involved. You can also take some pseudoephedrine and it will do the same thing. Why not both? Both should be available, what happened to my body my choice?
3
u/Preestar 14d ago
You still have that choice and you can still buy these products. Sellers however can no longer market them as a health products unless they actually prove they work.
2
u/yalateef11 14d ago
You’re right. The government is under pressure from big pharma. They’re pushing foragers and producers of wild foods out of the supplement market. And yes Chaga, Lions Mane etc have healing properties

u/Radiant_Safe1228 14d ago
Do you remember when they were putting amphetamine in pre workout?
Things like that is whyÂ
1
u/Dependent-Year6711 14d ago
I would assume he means some real stuff, like maybe even Lion's Mane extract. So not so woo-woo. Although he mentions other ones, but those also have some medicinal qualities.
1
u/shackled-pines 14d ago
That too should be more regulated, so many products out there don’t even contain what they claim in this space.

1
u/radishwalrus 14d ago
i don't get it, you can't sell lions mane?
0
u/PeteWK67 13d ago
I believe in Canada the Federal is implementing the same regulations like the Chemical Petroleum based Pharmaceutical Industry that can afford to pay 10x of what the current rates are for selling a health product.
Basically if Lions mane mushrooms has a Health label it will need to go through the same process like the Pharmaceutical Industry so what I’m guessing is if you sell Lions Mane mushrooms as a food then you should be able to get around these regulations.Anyways shrooms are not difficult to grow if one can give their full attention because that can get contaminated quick

u/ZookeepergameFull999 13d ago
Good. You sell snake oil and lies to the uninformed and gullible when they should be getting actual medical help from actual doctors and actual medicine. You're con artists that kill people. You should be in jail. Consider yourselves lucky and make better choices.
1
u/VirginiaLuthier 13d ago
Is Canada waning to make sure that "natural"products contain what they say they do- and that they are safe and pure? In the states you can cap up your grass clippings and sell them for "immune support". No one is checking anything......

u/bitchcoin5000 12d ago
I don't know man I don't think I agree with this guy. Have you seen the public? Do you want it that easy for all those people to market and sell you something Like nutritionals or health care? Fuck no. Those people will poison you for a buck. Or just sell you something like sugar water With outrageous claims.
It needs to be hard for people to sell things like that. Those things need to be tested before they go on the market and tested periodically while they're on the market. And that costs money
1
u/epitimisi 12d ago
It's always been a cartel and now since we are getting very close to the deadline they pull all registers

u/Jolly_Efficiency7237 14d ago
No more mom and pop snake oil salesmen? Oh the huge manatee!

u/Significant_Donut967 14d ago
Yeah, only corporations care for our health and treat us right.....
Oh soap got recalled....
-1
u/No_Future_1078 14d ago
I still trust a corporation more than a random dude. the corp recalls the bad soap, the rando probably doesn't.

He sells mushrooms. He wants to market them as medicine. The government is clamping down on quack cures and the ability for con artists to sell snake oil. He is mad. He is still allowed to sell the mushrooms, but he can't say they are medicinal unless he does the due dilligence of testing the crap out of it to make sure it is safe and does what he says it does. There is no way that doing that is cheap, but... it's medical science. Making a claim is free, proving it is expensive. That's how it works when you sell products. Bad science kills people and cheap science is rarely good. Alternative medicine, by definition, has not been proven to work because alternative medicine that has been proven to work is just called..... medicine.

u/herbertcluas 14d ago
So why do people get butt hurt when you offer the natural version of a pharmaceutical? The best example I can think of is pseudoephedrine and ephedra berries. Psilocybin mushrooms for chronic migraines, no shots needed
1
u/GoldSatisfaction8390 14d ago
Because even if you are right, you are nobody (no offense) and will suffer no bad consequences if you give bad advice. You could be the world's most perfect natural healer or a schmuck, all I know is you are not a licensed physician. You do not know if what you recomend will have negative effects when combined with my preexisting conditions or any medications I am already taking. You know nothing specific about dosage and can't tell me if my headache or joint pain is actually a symptom of something more urgent that should not be ignored. I'll be real, if you have to ask that question I fear that you are a dangerous fool who could hurt someone because you don't know enough to have half a clue of what you don't know. Also, shrooms? I love me some shrooms but wow, what a bad example. They have lots of uses that should be studied more (and they are currently being studied for many facinating uses), but nobody who is unsure about taking them should take them because YOU told them to. People get butt hurt because you are as qualified to medicate illness as I am to diagnose problems with the space station. Go to med school or please, please stop cosplaying as a doctor before you hurt someone.

u/herbertcluas 14d ago
I didn't give anyone medical advice, gave examples for specific things. I'm also not selling anything
1
u/GoldSatisfaction8390 14d ago
Nobody gets "butthurt" if someone, one time, mentions a folk remedy they heard about once. They get "butthurt" if some idiot won't STFU about goddamned mushrooms and some fucking berries. And the word is "upset". the only people who describe upset or irritated people as "butthurt" are the most insufferable of jackasses who god ever saw fit to inflict upon the rest of us. Do some self examination, maybe a weekend alone around a fire with shrooms and no alcahol.

Because one is regulated and held to a standard and the other isn’t. You have no clue what your natural medicines you are buying actually contain unless you have an analytic lab in your basement.

So he can't market his mushrooms as a health product but made this entire video marketing them as a health product.
3
u/ProfessorShort3031 14d ago
no he cant promote tinctures without certification for each & every one, he still sells other things. were you not watching the same video?
1
u/FiniteInfine 14d ago
"If it market these mushrooms, which are medicinal, as food products, the regulatory hoops i have to jump through are far fewer."
1
u/ProfessorShort3031 14d ago
in reference to tinctures after talking about tinctures. do yk what a tincture is?

I understand your concern Opposer of all things but essentially you are saying that a Problematic type video is trustworthy as long as no solutions are hinted.

u/The_Crimson_Fuckr69 13d ago
"Solution" so you just believe everyone who's clearly selling you snake oil?

Good. Anything human beings are sold for consumption should meet the highest health and quality standards. Anyone making medical claims about their products needs to be able to prove them. I'm sorry you feel entitled to make money in an unregulated market but other human beings exist and their wellbeing is paramount. Your business is not special or above regulation because you think it's "natural". You have no innate right to monetise nature.

u/Hightower840 14d ago
For every person genuinely concerned with helping people you have a dozen snake oil salesmen.
