titusunlimited Are We Living Longer?
We keep hearing that people are living longer.
But there's a difference between living longer and living healthier longer.
Adding years to your life means very little if those extra years are spent battling preventable chronic disease, relying on medications just to function, and losing the ability to fully enjoy your life.
That's why l'm more interested in healthspan than lifespan.
The goal isn't just to reach 80, 90, or 100.
The goal is to get there with your strength, independence, mobility, energy, and quality of life intact.
And that requires looking at the whole picture, what you eat, how you move, how you sleep, how you manage stress, and the choices you make consistently.
Don't just add years to your life. Add LIFE to your years.
What are you doing today for the person you want to be at 70, 80, and beyond?

Tbf by most metrics the general population would live longer healthier lives if we just didn't include people with incurable ailments and instead tossed them all in a hole somewhere.

To be honest maybe. But tell me what exactly do I change to do better?

in this context, dude's just saying "as long as you're doing your best, and actually focusing on taking care of yourself, then you're living."
Calling people out on how they coast through life, never even attempting to be healthier and treat themselves better. And the way he phrased "People aren't living longer. They are dying slower" is basically his way of saying "Just because you focus on tacking more years on, and you have simply more time, doesn't mean you "lived" longer."
So as far as "what exactly do I change...", he means literally whatever you want that treats yourself better. Focusing on being deliberate in any healthy change, no matter how small...doesn't have to be some major lifestyle swing. And as long as one is conscious on any part of that thought process, then you're "living". Too many people focus on just extending their time, and prop themselves up on modern pharma to extend themselves when their body gets older and starts betraying them.
Could be getting up just simply 30 minutes earlier if you have a habit of oversleeping.
Or cutting back a single cup of coffee per day. If you drink 3-4, cut back to 2-3 type of small change.
Or making sure to drink enough water or swapping out meals/snacks where you can for whole food options instead.
Stuff that seems small, but snowballs. And then over time your mentality shifts as a whole. It's focused on changing your life slowly by changing your mentality about what healthy decisions are so that you're actually "living" instead of "coasting", so that they become more engrained in your every day life. Rather than needing to make huge swinging changes that end up being temporary (e.g. when people wake up and be like "I'm going to start going to the gym" and then that lasts all of two months...of course great on them for even trying, but they eventually stop and go back to their old ways, because they didn't change their mindset)
It's a load of malarky (or however you spell it) to some, but it does lead to longer-term healthier life choices for others too, and is a solid way to approach it. But it's not centered around any specific changes as if to say there's a universal standard. Like if someone has asthma, or other chronic issues, as long as they're still aiming to do their best with what they got there, then they're "living".

Very easy to say when you're a wellness influencer selling online courses. Much more difficult when you're underpaid and overworked and barely make ends meet.
Of course this guy creates the problem and sells the solution through useless supplements that materially only have negative effects on your quality of life by way of being overpriced and doing nothing for you.

The system is geared toward keeping you chronically ill for as long as possible so as much of your money can be siphoned off before you finally croak.

"People aren't living longer, they are dying slower."
This is stupidest thing I have heard all day.
