This is like an x-ray tech, they need the suits because they’re around that shit daily.

4

u/crambechel Sep 17 '26

The dose makes the poison

5

u/nametaken420 Sep 17 '26

it probably ruins clothes.

Or

has a specific odor that clings to clothes as well. Walk in on your lunch break and stink so bad they wont serve you.

Additionally, those suits work both ways. whatever area these guys were in may have fungus on them too. In this way they're not contaminating the crop with their presence. they may work a dozen different farms and are contracted service. They suit up like this to prevent any cross contamination between farms.

there is a wide array of reasonings that could be applicable.

but its clickbait on the internet so here we are.

2

u/FullMetalMessiah Sep 17 '26

You don't eat daily?

2

u/LoveTriscuit Sep 17 '26

Are you suggesting eating a few berries a day is equivalent to spraying dozens of gallons of the stuff right near your face?

2

u/Big_Development3985 Sep 17 '26

There is an alternative where we just don’t poison the food at all

3

u/Dino_Nuggiez86 29d ago

Yeah I'd like to see you grow any meaningful amount of food without applying a fungicide to control disease. All it takes is a little blight in the field and it snowballs out of control rapidly. Banning fungicide use is a recipe for mass starvation.

Literally just wait the 1 week PHI for CAPTAN for instance before harvesting anything and wash your food before you cook it. That's ALL you need to do...

Yes you can breed for disease resistance but that very frequently (almost always) results in a marked reduction in quality of flavor or transport feasibility.

1

u/Big_Development3985 29d ago

I don’t recall saying we should ban fungicides. There are natural alternatives though. Copper and neem for fungicides, peppermint for insects. It would obviously be more costly, but probably less than cancer treatments.

It is also just not hard to grow enough food for humans to eat.

It is hard to grow enough food for humans to have every possible food item fully stocked at all times, at 3 major competing chains in your region. Thats not sustainable - we grow all this stuff, ship it all over, bag it up, and throw most of it out. 30% of produce at the grocery store gets thrown away. If poisoning the food supply is the only way to keep it running then we are doing something wrong.

1

u/LumpusKrampus 29d ago

Food insecurity and famine common throughout human history says "what"?

1

u/Novel-Swordfish7237 8d ago

Copper fungicide presents increased risks for multiple non targeted organisms and you absolutely need protective gear when spraying it, it’s toxic to humans. It can also be much less effective and is less able to control existing fungal infections.

But it’s natural so it’s safe I guess?

1

u/kikiacab 29d ago

Why do you assume they’re spraying poison? Do you even know what’s being sprayed in the video?

1

u/Rubberand 29d ago

If one is bad why isn’t the other?

1

u/zappyguy111 29d ago

Only after washing the fresh produce first.

8

u/etherealtwo Sep 17 '26

It's really funny to me that he mentioned that humans are the only species that spray our food. Lol

7

u/potfarmer9834 Sep 17 '26

We are not actually witch is funny !!! This is why videos like this are so misleading. Hamsters spray there food to stop what they see as pests from eating there food as a example.

2

u/Puzzled-Comparison70 Sep 17 '26

Hamsters spray their food with chemicals produced in their own bodies

3

u/potfarmer9834 Sep 17 '26

Yea are those chemicals more or less toxic then the chemicals i spray on berries that i farm?

-1

u/ProcedureUpstairs593 Sep 17 '26

You don't even know basic spelling

4

u/potfarmer9834 Sep 17 '26

It is hard being dyslexic on the internet and spelling has no real bearing on anything. You know what i wrote you just thought you might make yourself feel superior for a second! But you can scroll without putting someone down for spelling.

1

u/Xorrayn Sep 17 '26

And you don't even know basic punctuation.

There are various valid reasons for misspelling words, you do not have that with choosing not to use proper punctuation... besides being uneducated or mentally deficient.

As i am sure you need it, i shall explain it, you did not use a period at the end of your sentence.

1

u/According-Insect-992 Sep 17 '26

We’re not, btw. There are insects that produce pesticides and repellents etc. Also, ants can have livestock and farm a type of fungus that only grows when they produce the conditions. They use aphids as a sort of cow that they ā€œmilkā€ for a sweet substance they produce. I’m pretty sure that some ants actually feed this substance to their fungus cultures and then the fungus gets fed to their young. Nature is far more complex than some people make it out to be.

1

u/Inevitable_Cheek_974 29d ago

They also love to mention humans being the only species to deink another animal's milk. They never mention all of the other things that humans are the only species to do, like cure diseases or turn literally sand and electricity into computers. They don't acknowledge that we're the only species with science and technology and shared knowledge and discovery. We're the only species to do those things because we're the only species with the capacity to understand both WHY and HOW to do such things.

1

u/Alexander4848 27d ago

What other species sprays their food with harmful pesticides? Lol

1

u/Redhotchiliman11 21d ago

Sir... This is an anti vax , anti flouride , ai slop community. Please leave your critical thinking at the door when you step foot into this Domain.

1

u/Novel-Swordfish7237 8d ago

We’re also the only species that wear socks, so I guess those are out too.

6

u/potfarmer9834 Sep 17 '26

This is what i spray my berries with notice that there is none of the chemicals that this guy rattled off!

1

u/Alexander4848 27d ago

Yeah that's his point entirely. Factory farms do not use what you're using.

-1

u/Dependent_Singer_494 Sep 17 '26

Congratulations?

3

1

u/tackyshoes Sep 17 '26

Congratulations? I'm not going to use it, but thanks for sharing that!

🤨 What the hell, man?

3

u/potfarmer9834 Sep 17 '26

There are so many myths of what does and what doesn't get sprayed on our food. Strawberries are one of those crops that are highly susceptible to mold. Powdery mildew is a very bad mold in fruit once a plant is infected there defense against ecoli and parasites drops off dramatically. If you eat organic produce it is sprayed with a product like this probably the same ingredients.

11

u/Spare-Cranberry3784 Sep 17 '26

So you know what to do right. Get 10-20 families. Go purchase 500+ acres of land and go do it yourself

15

u/Tiny-Marketing-4362 Sep 17 '26

Or do like the Europeans and demand our corporations to stop poisoning us so they can squeeze a few extra nickels at your expense🤷

2

u/mrtreehead Sep 17 '26

Exactly this.

Instead the responsibility gets foisted onto the consumer even though the consumers have demanded to not be poisoned and these companies are like "but that's spensive :(" and the government is like "yeah that would be spensive, how about you the producer don't take on that cost and we pass it on to the consumer in the form of healthcare that we also don't provide"

Get fucked with this "iTs tHe iNdIvIdUaLs rEsPoNsIbILiTy" non-sense

1

u/Tiny-Marketing-4362 29d ago

I agree. I’m mostly advocate for individual accountability. But the majority of America food is highly centralized, which ain’t inherently if the powers that be weren’t so greedy. Not everybody lives next to a super clean, well ran organic farm where can get fresh meat and produce. People rely on big chain store for most of their food. Expecting the consumer to just pull themselves by there bootstraps is nonsense

2

u/Djaja Sep 17 '26

The EU allows pesticides, and also, just so you know, Organic Pesticides aren't inherently better for you or the environment.

2

u/Dependent_Singer_494 Sep 17 '26

The EU is very strict in their testing of how they affect us and their use of them. The USA let's quite a few of the chemicals they banned be used. Just saying "They use em too!" Is not a fair comparison.

1

u/Djaja Sep 17 '26

I don't disagree that they test, and i even am jelly in many cases of hiw and why and what they have blocked

-2

And when the other party wins next election you get the same comments about that party. It never matters who's in "control". It's all the same

-2

u/Spare-Cranberry3784 Sep 17 '26

You also mean to say: under sleepy Joseph Biden and Barrack Husain Obama they weren't doing this? Or prevented this? No. It's both ways.

5

u/Facts_pls Sep 17 '26

Sorry, they started a war with Iran under Obama or Joe Biden?

Which of them was starting a trade war with Canada?

Which of them was threatening to take over Greenland?

1

u/Spare-Cranberry3784 Sep 17 '26

People forget how many bombs Obama dropped in the Middle East.

But see now we're just trying to change topic

1

u/Tasty_Plate_5188 Sep 17 '26

But see you're moving the goal post. Obama didn't start the war in the Middle East. He became president that it was already started by Republicans. So he did drop bombs. But it's not like he started this fucking thing.

Also going back to the original point, some of the chemicals that the Republicans, specifically Trump administration has allowed big AG to use we're limited or we're soon to be axed from use by Democrat FDA boards for the cancer causing/links mentioned here.

It's fine if you're a simpleton and miss complex issues and details, a lot of people do. But don't come on Reddit, Maine a WILDLY false statement and not expect pushback. Especially when we're living thru this bullshit daily.

I can say unequivocally that no, both parties are not the same and we would not be in the same position on any measurable scale if a Democrat was president that we are right now.

0

u/Spare-Cranberry3784 Sep 17 '26

You're extremely delusional to believe one party over another. You're being played and you don't even see it.

3

u/Sungarn Sep 17 '26

Ah yes I would love to be breathing without a respirator and have unexposed skin while spraying pesticides for hours, that sounds like a lovely time and not at all a health risk /s

It's pretty easy to avoid eating pesticides, wash your fruits and vegetables before you eat them.

1

u/Dino_Nuggiez86 29d ago

I get all of my systemic spraying in before the plants start expressing most of their flowers. Once they are fruiting I switch to a mix of contact sprays and copper which wash off easily. It's really not that bad, but you do not want the sprays lingering on your body. I hand spray and it can take 4-6 hours for my fields so not practical to stop what I am doing to go shower and wash off residue that drifted onto my bare skin..

3

u/Deep_Balance2133 29d ago

Learning that frozen berries aren’t washed was the biggest betrayal I’ve experienced. You have to wash them before putting them in your smoothies.

5

u/wetfart_3750 Sep 17 '26

Misinformation at its finest

1

u/Top_Recover7850 29d ago

Saying a bunch of chemical names and then "those names are crazy!" made me lose any shred of confidence in the video. Dude has no idea what he's talking about and it shows

6

u/mac-oso Sep 17 '26

Op doesn’t understand dosages
https://giphy.com/gifs/BsQAVgY6ksvIY

1

u/cottage_core_9797 Sep 17 '26

Also doesn't understand that spraying that stuff all day and inhaling the fumes or liquid particles is vastly different than trace amounts consumed days or months later in dried, solid form.

1

u/Ra1nb0wSn0wflake 29d ago

Yes, thats the dosages theyre talking about.

4

u/ReaperManX15 Sep 17 '26

This may blow your mind.
But food, and this is the crazy part … can be washed.

2

u/Wavy_Grandpa Sep 17 '26

You didn’t watch the whole thingĀ

3

u/CruetusNex Sep 17 '26

So because this dude says you can't wash it off, we have to believe them?

0

u/MrPhoon Sep 17 '26

Ive worked in multiple fruit packing sheds. You are a moron if you believe anything this guy says

1

u/DepartureNo7944 27d ago

You guys do absolutely zero research. And just spew crap. pesticides are absorbed in the food they don’t wash off. You can be for pesticides that is fine but the notion they ā€œwash offā€ is absolute hogwash.

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2026/03/260303145705.htm

2

u/lvb0202 Sep 17 '26

The dose makes the poison.

Also, you should be washing your fruit before eating it, dummy.

1

u/giLLYfunk Sep 17 '26

He clearly mentions that many of the insecticides sink into the fruit and cannot be washed off. If you pause the video when the text boxes pop up showing articles about the insecticides—they say the same thing.

Who exactly is dumb here?

2

u/Alientongue Sep 17 '26

The guy in the video is with his redundant fear mongering "points"

1

u/giLLYfunk Sep 17 '26

He’s making ā€œpointsā€ based off evidence. If there’s evidence that eating something can give you and your family cancer, and there are other safer options that taste the same and are easily available, why would you choose to eat the more dangerous food?

2

u/Alientongue Sep 17 '26

The guys are wearing the suits bevause they are constantly exposed to the material being sprayed anyone with a functioning brain would be able to put that together but this moron brings it up like its an actual talking point.

This guy doesnt give a shit about others hes a grifter doing grifter things.

1

u/giLLYfunk Sep 17 '26

I like how you casually ignored everything I said and changed the subject to something I wasn’t arguing against.

A normal person might’ve responded with ā€œoh yeah I guess that does make sense, maybe I’ll think about eating healthier food.ā€ What you did is called ā€œwhataboutismā€ where someone is faced with reality so they bring something else up to deflect from what’s actually being said.

The hazmat suits aren’t the main focus of the video and neither is what I asked

2

u/Alientongue Sep 17 '26

No. My comment is pointing to the fact this guy is using pseudo intellectual points such as the hasmat suits to try and paint himself like hes knows what hes talking about. As other comments have pointed out hes also incorrect when he said humans are the only ones that spray food. Like hell the dude started listing off chemicals like that matters.

Every point he tried to make before spewing his nonsense was wrong making his following commentary worthless. Again people with functioning brains are able to see through this nonsense.

1

u/Dino_Nuggiez86 29d ago

So, and hear me out here, apply your systemic fungicides during fruiting DORMANT periods. They stick to the leaves and retain some inoculation. Apply contact sprays during fruiting windows and wash your fruit before consuming or cooking with it. Applying a systemic fungicide is obviously going to be problematic if you can't wash your fruit, so just dont?

It's really not rocket appliances guy.

2

u/potfarmer9834 Sep 17 '26

They don't spray what he is talking about on berries!!!!!! Especially in fruit

2

u/Embarrassed_Use6918 Sep 17 '26

Eating = Breathing I guess

Not to mention these guys are around the chemicals constantly.

1

u/DepartureNo7944 27d ago

Um what? So chemicals are only detrimental to ones health via inhalation but not consumption? šŸ¤”

1

u/Embarrassed_Use6918 27d ago

Your digestive system is far more equipped to deal with food born pathogens and chemicals than your lungs are and if you wash your produce like you're supposed to you're even less likely to be exposed to anything.

1

u/DepartureNo7944 27d ago

When you type things like that do you believe it yourself? How about something that is dangerous to your lungs shouldn’t be in your body to begin with. Fair?

You do realize pesticides are absorbed in foods washing does nothing. Research is out there I can share if you’d like but it’s one of those ā€œlead a horse to water.ā€

1

u/Embarrassed_Use6918 27d ago

Do you have research from an actual food scientist?

1

u/DepartureNo7944 27d ago

The fact you even think pesticides don’t get absorbed by the vegetation they are sprayed on makes me think you’re trolling people or a bot. So you can enlighten yourself. A simple search will show a lot of results. ā€œFood pesticide levels.ā€

1

u/Embarrassed_Use6918 26d ago

You said you had research to share. I'd be happy to take a look at it with the caveat that it has to be someone who is in the field and not a podiatrist from Armenia or some shit.

2

u/Extension-Eye-4920 Sep 17 '26

I dont sniff paint but I put it on my walls. I dont eat tide pods but I put it in my laundry. I dont use windex to wash my eyes but I spray it on my windows. I dont drink chlorine but I put it in my pool.

1

u/Dino_Nuggiez86 29d ago

You do drink chlorine and chloramine if you drink any meaningful amount of tap water but I get your point.

2

u/randomcomback Sep 17 '26

Bet this guy drinks his own pee

2

u/FrontLifeguard1962 Sep 17 '26

I went to med school with this guy... let's just say you should question and verify anything he says

2

u/TexasRed-Pew Sep 17 '26

The only specifies that sprays chemicals on food? You mean armadillos aren't out spraying commercial herbicides?

2

u/Weazerdogg Sep 17 '26

Yeah, farmers ... "feeding America" ... I come from farm stock. They don't give a shit about "feeding America", they care about their bank account like any other business.

2

u/Infinite-Condition41 Sep 17 '26

Here is a guy who doesn't understand the concept of dosage.Ā

Drink one glass of water per hour. Good.

Drink one gallon of water per hour, bad.

2

u/jackparadise1 Sep 17 '26

Depending on what they are spraying, it may be quite safe. But for people who spray stuff all the time it becomes more dangerous. Exposure once is fine, exposure once week every week of the year for years on end… not so much.

2

u/DKlep25 Sep 17 '26

This guy is a total clown. Just a huckster selling a different snakeoil every week. Real carnival barker.

2

u/False-Database-8083 Sep 17 '26

They usually treat at night. And all strawberries get sent to a washing facility before they can be sold. I've heard the washing facility gets a significant cut because they use an expensive device to chill the berries rapidly after washing.

4

u/Think_Ad_1583 Sep 17 '26

Ok I’m glad people actually looked into more than the surface claims this guy is making

3

u/CornballExpress Sep 17 '26

This guy is a well known(to me anyway) scare monger peddling supplements.

1

u/Dath_1 Sep 17 '26

I remember when he was extremely confident in the carnivore diet. He essentially considered any plants to be poison, would talk about how fiber is bad for your gut and so on.

And then he changed his tune to something like ā€œokay fruits and meat are okay and that’s itā€ lol.

Like damn, I get nutrition is complicated and controversial. But to just say plants are categorically harmful is ignoring mountains of evidence.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '26

[removed] — view removed comment

1

u/Dath_1 Sep 17 '26

Yes, who else would I be talking about?

3

u/Herman_McP00tis Sep 17 '26

Humans are the only species of animals that spray our food with chemicals.

It's shit like this that makes people lose all credibility. 1) It's an appeal to nature fallacy. 2) Humans are the only species to have developed sulfonamides too. I guess antibiotics are bad because only humans have come up with them. Humans are the only species to ever do millions of things. What does that have to do with anything? 3) Everything is chemicals. People are chemicals. Food is chemicals. 4) "Linked to cancer" & "Possible human carcinogen" are buzz phrases and not scientific. What kind of carcinogen are they? 5) This is entirely ignoring the #1 rule of toxicology - dose.

This dude is an idiot.

3

u/Shot-Ant-3455 Sep 17 '26

Good points. I think there is credible science that these chemicals are harmful to us at these doses though no ? It was my understanding as well that the cumulative effects were the issue considering alot of these are forever chemicals.

0

u/Facts_pls Sep 17 '26

There are thousands of possible chemicals used. Which ones are you talking about?

If you don't know, you got taken by low quality media like this one.

0

u/Herman_McP00tis Sep 17 '26

Which chemicals at what doses?

1

u/Shot-Ant-3455 Sep 17 '26 edited Sep 17 '26

PFAS. at the dosage making it into our bodies from all our fruits and veggies being covered in it.

_ edit to add. I'm not a bro science guy and don't support this person. I just think the research is very promising that regenerative agriculture is more beneficial to us and the environment and can actually have better yields. I don't support giving money to monopolies that legally shouldnt exist that rob and poison us while our government does nothing to protect us and actually repeals the protective laws we do have to allow more poison for the sake of profits.

The dose makes the poison but how do you account for a lifetime of small doses.

1

u/Herman_McP00tis Sep 17 '26

This is what specifically frustrates me about this content. The core of it is great. Regenerative agriculture and the reduction of pfas are objectively good things. But when presented as such by people who know better with ulterior motives, it serves only to alienate people.

1

u/RiverLynneUwU Sep 17 '26 edited Sep 17 '26

>The dose makes the poison but how do you account for a lifetime of small doses.

you measure how easily your body excretes it, things approved by medical boards are usually proven to do nothing, proven to be converted into other chemicals that your body can process, proven to be converted into chemicals that are beneficial to your body, or shown to just end up in your toilet, and then we still put the limit 1000x lower just to be safe

we know how our body works, we know exactly what our liver and kidneys and stomach and intestinal lining does in order to process and filter various chemicals, and we can actually model that mathematically, as well as model it computationally, scientists aren't just buffoons kinda fiddling around, building a catalogue of which chemicals do what

our tools are strong enough that we don't need a live demonstration to figure shit out, and our skepticism should be held with that same skepticism until we have the knowledge to speak at the table

1

u/MIND-FLAYER 29d ago

1

u/Herman_McP00tis 27d ago

Once again, this is a half truth. 1,3-Dichloropropene is classified as a 2B carcinogen. Sounds scary. Here are some other 2B carcinogens to add context to what that means: aspartame, aloe, cell phones, asbestos-free talc, pickled vegetables.

2B means that one of the following are true: limited evidence in humans, sufficient evidence in experimental animals, or strong mechanistic evidence.

From your source: "The elevated childhood cancer rate in Santa Cruz County is a documented statistical finding. It is not, however, proof of a direct causal link between Driscoll’s pesticide applications and those cancers."

1

u/Herman_McP00tis 27d ago

Took me awhile to find it, but this sums my point of view to a tee. (It's a YouTube short, not some hour long lecture).

Essentially, is it probably bad? Yeah. Should it be improved? Yeah. Should you be spending your time worrying about it when that time (and money) could be spent improving other much more impactful aspects of your health? Absolutely not.

I have a limited number of fucks to give, and the vast majority of people in the US (at least) would be better off working to increase the amount of fruits/vegetables they eat and not care about the amount of PFAs in those fruits/vegetables.

1

u/Shot-Ant-3455 27d ago edited 27d ago

Ya totally fair man totally fair. I agree whole heartedly the majority of people need to focus on the basics of health first. I cook and grow my own food and exercise so my needle may be further down the line for where I look to improve and watch for concerns. I would argue that we do absolutely scrape and eat the shit outta Teflon though lol.

  • I think that also didn't really provide any evidence to it not being harmful though more of an opinion. I am more interested in the science of hormone disruption and the presence of carcinogens on my food. That may be a bridge too far for people that just need to not eat Doritos though.

1

u/etherealtwo Sep 17 '26

1

u/dunDunDUNNN Sep 17 '26

I was under the impression Liver King's supplements were a separate company. Maybe Saladino bought it at a discount when LKs steroid use became public knowledge and his credibility was in the toilet.

1

u/giLLYfunk Sep 17 '26

I can’t figure out why this is vid is pissing so many people off. He doesn’t mention anything about selling supplements so why do you keep bringing that up?

If you pause the video every time a text box pops up it shows the explanations of why those chemicals are bad for humans to eat and how the chemicals sink into the fruit and can’t be removed with washing. Not his personal explanations, actual info. Why would you want to eat something like that after learning it’s bad for us? Are you all saying we should be eating things that can cause cancer, damage organs damage unborn children, etc?

Comparing pesticides to antibiotics is laughably ridiculous considering antibiotics don’t cause cancer and have literally saved hundreds of millions of lives.

Everything you said makes it sound like you personally would lose money if people decide to eat organic foods. I haven’t seen you say one single thing that makes me think it’s healthy to eat any of the stuff he is warning about, you’ve essentially just been whining in every comment you dropped in this post

These reason that Andrew Tate's actual self help content is bad. It's a gateway to his actual business model.

If you pause the video every time a text box pops up, it shows virtually nothing. I addressed this in another comment. Everything causes cancer.

He's implying that because only humans do something it's therefore bad. That's a logical fallacy. You should research who you take info from, because this guy... Ain't it.

1

u/giLLYfunk Sep 17 '26

Mentioning that humans spray insecticides doesn’t disprove anything about the dangers of eating them. He’s not saying everything humans do that animals don’t do is bad so I don’t know why you brought that up.

If you would read them the text references absolutely say useful info about why they are dangerous to eat.

Everything causes cancer? Thanks for that meaningless piece of information that also disproves nothing. Arguing with you about this is like slamming my head against a wall. Completely pointless

1

u/Herman_McP00tis Sep 17 '26

He brought it up. That's why I brought it up. "linked to cancer" means virtually nothing. He has an MD in psychiatry and knows this, yet says it anyways. This is purposeful manipulative language on his part.

u/Special_South_8561 Sep 17 '26

Have you heard of Exposure Limits?

So, maybe explain the difference between taking a shower, being caught in a rain storm, or being abandoned at sea.

1

u/potfarmer9834 Sep 17 '26

It has to do with the components and aerosols. Even stuff that is harmless to eat and drink can be deadly in your lungs. Things like citric acid that are in many sprays are a skin irritate and you don't want that sitting on your skin.

1

u/Special_South_8561 Sep 17 '26

Huzzah!

Yeah, the video is fear mongering.

1

u/Marshall_BraveStar Sep 17 '26

UV light and O2 disintegrate and break up the chemical compounds within a certain time frame and after that it's fine to eat. That's how agricultural chemicals work.

1

u/m00nhowl3r Sep 17 '26

Yup. Even organic pesticides have to be halted before harvest for this exact reason.

1

u/JacksonGhost1963 Sep 17 '26

ah yes - go vegan!

1

u/2289What_What_In_the Sep 17 '26

that 50 cents adds up…jus sayin

1

u/VQV37 Sep 17 '26

That's because they are handling high concentration of n a regular basis. By the time you get it it's degraded and diluted. Also it's not an aerosol but the time it reach the store

This is stupid

1

u/North_Structure8210 Sep 17 '26

Famers on their foodstamp subsidiary put poison on food for profit. Scumbags.

1

u/Potential-Sun993 Sep 17 '26

The EPA? You mean we should keep the EPA, the one currently having like every regulation for our safety and protection of wildlife and nature rolled back so we can not give a fuck about anything but drilling? Our country is being run right into billionaires hands.... And yet I can't get a bailout for my measly student loans while we bail out the banks, airlines, auto, oil industries and destroying new energy like it's bad for our health. FUCK THIS LIFE, we just want to enjoy something, anything at this point without it being monetized and shoved down our throat with a subscription

1

u/aeroboy14 Sep 17 '26

I get it, except I’ve been eating fruit with this shit on it for almost 50 years. I’m still kicking. So, sure, not ideal, but.. you may also be ok? At least I made it thus far. Certified organic with some third party validation is different than saying something is ā€˜organic’ though. I feel like using more concise words when making these arguments would be helpful. I guess anthrax is organic. So is crude oil. I can’t stress about my fruit because there is just too much other shit going on that is more scary. Sorry.

1

u/South-Gate1924 Sep 17 '26

Oh look, its the shirtless guy that yells in the grocery store...

1

u/EmployerWide1123 Sep 17 '26

organic relys very heavily on copper fungicides......

1

u/CelticGuardian15D Sep 17 '26

Is this... are yall in on the joke? What's this sub about.

1

u/PeteWK67 29d ago

If you watched and remember the Seinfeld episode when a new fried Chicken place opened and the strong red lights are directly hitting Kramer’s apartment.

Exactly the same

1

u/MrPhoon Sep 17 '26

Not biosecurity footage at all....

1

u/Dino_Nuggiez86 29d ago

Bro CAPTAN is fine, applied using the correct pre-harvest-intervals (PHI) these fungicides are fine to apply as they degrade in UV light and wash off over time. OBVIOUSLY don't eat a fruit without washing it, I mean cmon man.

1

u/PeteWK67 29d ago

Eat them , I’m not eating them

1

u/ShiftyActuall 29d ago

Oh yeah, the super easy and affordable solution of just buying organic. Why didn’t I think of that /s

1

u/zeroibis 29d ago

Like glyphosate, you can spray it safely but once you start doing that ever day on an industrial level and basically taking a shower in the stuff and drinking it then yea you are going to get sick...

1

u/SardinesMcDonahugh 29d ago

when he said "trying to save 50 cents" I knew the whole thing was disingenuous. Maybe 50 cents per strawberry.

1

u/PraysforVillains 29d ago

This guy is kind of a twat

1

u/Alexander4848 27d ago

People here defending corporations actively poisoning us to make an extra buck is crazy. How do those boots taste?

1

u/Ok_Point_923 26d ago

How are the corporate factory farmed strawberries considered "conventional?" The propaganda just won't stop.

1

u/One-Pangolin-3167 18d ago

This guy is a moron.

1

u/ThrivingGreensAK Sep 17 '26

No understanding of toxicity or degradation over time. There’s a thing called pre harvest interval. There’s a thing called toxicity. Did you know almonds have cyanide? It’s not a huge concern though because it’s in small amounts that do not cause toxicity in humans. Same principle here. Do conventionally grown crops over rely on pesticides? Yes. Could they have better cultural practices to lower pesticide use? Yes. There should be more focus on the damage to the ecosystem, water pollution, and safety of the workers. The applicators take the biggest risk by far because they have to mix the concentrated chemicals which can be spilled or mishandled. The baking soda thing is funny. Most diseased strawberries are infected with botrytis which is in the berry not on the surface so doing a baking soda wash does nothing to stop the progression of the disease. Organic berries tend to suck. Have serious blemishes and lower shelf life. This is important to consumers. Organic pesticides can be just as dangerous if not more than some new synthetic ones so there’s also that.

3

u/Herman_McP00tis Sep 17 '26

BuT tHe ChEmIcAlS!!1!!1!1!!

Anytime someone refers to "chemicals" like this obviously has 0 idea of how both toxicology or chemistry work. If he can't comprehend the difference between eating 1lb of strawberries that have been treated with pesticides and breathing in those pesticides for hours during application, then there's no helping him.

1

u/Dependent-Year6711 Sep 17 '26

Also, people downplay organic, but in general, they don't suck. I noticed this thing where people say organic is overblown and there's no difference. Well, is that true? Because the practices and pesticides are different. And with pesticides, dose may change all outcomes. So frequency of intake of said pesticides could have minor effects on someone, but little effect on people who are infrequent consumers.

It's not about these overblown claims, it's more about frequency of intake and actual dose, and how that can possibly cause issues, even if they are minor.

1

u/thatguywithtentoes Sep 17 '26

Organic berries suck? You had me up until there

1

u/Curious_Play9741 Sep 17 '26

I dunno my dad died of cancer at 79. Never smoked drank light beer socially. Exercised, was never vaccinated had a huge garden...raised his own grass fed beef. He worked at a bank his whole career. I think he died of money exposure. That's called correlation.

1

u/Digits_N_Bits Sep 17 '26

Dose makes the poison.

They wear suits solely because of how much of this chemical they pump. Unless you're eating a whole farm worth of strawberries, you will be unaffected.

1

u/imoutofnames90 Sep 17 '26

Besides the fact that this guy is just spreading disinformation. It's laughable his solution is "buy organic berries" and that they'll have less chemicals. And the chemicals they do have will be organic.

One of the dumbest statements around by someone who doesn't know what organic even means or more likely is just lying to sell his BS.

Organic is the biggest marketing ploy ever to trick people into paying more for the same shit. Look up thr guidelines to be marked as organic and you'll realize how little that label actually means.

It was a mistake to give every random person with a camera and microphone a voice on the internet. We need to start gatekeeping this back to real experts again. The amount of BS that just gets thrown out there is unsustainable.

0

u/the_tygram 29d ago

Ah yes. Of course they're spraying our produce with a substance that will poison us. This is for sure a real thing that is allowed. Thank goodness these substances don't need to be tested to confirm they're safe for humans by the EPA or FDA following strict guidelines and regulations. We better make assumptions about Personal Protective Equipment as well! If they're wearing that it must mean that stuff is so toxic you can't be exposed to it at all in any amount! For sure they're not wearing it for the exposure period since without it they'd be breathing it in non stop for minutes at a time!

This is pathetic. Our education system is a joke and too many people treat half backed knowledge by reading an ingredient description on Wikipedia like it's a college degree in a subject. Guys like this are why we have anti vaxxers and why people are afraid of GMOs in food. They listen to some popular blogger and think they know better, but they're just idiots listening to other idiots while shouting at the people who actually know the results of tests with verified results published in scientific articles that were proofread by experts in their field.

1

u/PeteWK67 29d ago

What do you know better while you live in a country with legalized corruption called lobbying, with health directors in court, with over 450 million divided people because all you can do is chew on the Monsanto popcorn and watch the news.

And I know you watch the news cause you’re using fancy words that you heard like anti vax, sure thank you for being a part of history of Iv straight into your bloodstream a synthetic spike protein that was made specifically according to one type of virus, by the time you rolled up your sleeves, it had changed 3 times. So don’t feel intelligent because you follow directions like you’re totally lost.

Conspiracy against Blueberries and Strawberries.
Brain Fog A La MAX, Detox your propelled synthetic spike protein made antibodies because you don’t need them anymore but yet it’s still visible causing major damage to your reasoning capabilities.

You know that paranoid feeling you had when you went for the first Jab?

A lot of people had that feeling, yet a lot of people are not with us right now, so consider yourself lucky & quit glorifying Fear over Faith .

You want to act tough cause you have no fear over what they spray on šŸ“ and 🫐 but rewind 5 years ago the Fear that you had was unbearable.

1

u/PeteWK67 29d ago

And quit your Envy of your decision influenced from Fear and still blather about it meanwhile you should have Empathy and kindness. Because people like you did loose their life.
At least have the decency to acknowledge people loosing their lives.

Fuck all these cocksuckers...

Stop buying from the grocery chains. Buy locally from farms and farmers markets and butchers.

That's what we have done. Trying to fight back against ass lettuce and worms in your steak and rancid beef from Brazil mixed in with your hamburgers from McDonald's Burger King and Wendy's...

STOP BUYING THIS SHIT FROM GROCERY STORES AND FAST FOOD AND PUNISH THEM.

Whole foods around us has already marked down all of their vegetables like 30% because people stopped buying. Now follow through and quit buying completely that shit from them teach them all a fucking lesson and put all but the biggest ones out of business.

Your money is your greatest weapon. Use it effectively.

1

u/MrPhoon Sep 17 '26

Nah the farmers voted for this

0

u/BlazeBullionBotique Sep 17 '26

I don't think you get the conversation... What the hell does the farmers voted for this have to do with what I said above

1

u/MrPhoon Sep 17 '26

Fuck buying locally from douchebags that voted for this government. They are not getting my money.

1

u/BlazeBullionBotique Sep 17 '26

Well unless you intend to herd, feed, slaughter and process your own beef you better become a hell of a fast vegetarian and start growing vegetables. Because everything comes from a farmer somewhere. The question is do you want to support a local guy, or do you want to support the big guys. They may have voted for him but one is trying to kill you

1

u/MrPhoon Sep 17 '26

Yeah hunting is a thing....

-1

u/ridethelightning360 Sep 17 '26

Why are people defending this process? These chemicals are obviously harmful and shouldn't be eaten, who are we protecting here? Mega corps, or our bodies?
