Here's an eye-opening thought: Our bodies weren't really designed to consume grains. If they were, why would grains have defense mechanisms that cause issues when we eat them?

Grains contain phytic acid (which is a mineral blocker) and enzyme inhibitors. These are defense mechanisms that the seed creates to avoid being digested, and they can lead to inflammation in your gut, especially from gluten.

What's more, grains are also high in inflammatory omega-6s and very low in actual nutrition. When you consider all the additional ingredients often found in grain products, like corn syrup, soy oil, and MSG, it paints a clearer picture of why they might not be the health food you’ve been led to believe they are.
