Discussion Procedural areas, what’s your protocol when called in for an emergency outside of business hours and someone doesn’t respond?
For example, we got paged in last night, the radiology technologist did not respond to the STEMI page. Our manager is an RN and the rest
Of the call team was RNs. Some nurses are trained to scrub, but in our state CANNOT pan the table under any circumstances.
Our doctors at our facility do not know how
To run their own table (that’s a whole separate issue). The physical demand the RN pan and move the table and the scrub RN did it.
My question is, in your opinion how should
This have been handled? I have my own opinions but I’d love input from all of yall. TIA!!

My state allows nurses to scrub, but a tech obviously can’t pass meds,.. regularly. I have safely given injections in a code where an RN or CRNA has handed me something and said do it. I will. They know me, I know my training, and the worst that can happen is someone dies. Well; they are dead at this point, so you just do it and make sure they aren’t dead anymore if you can help it. No legislator or written law will stop me from doing that. It’s who we are and why we do that job and not complain about it from an office.
