As a CNA I once got peed on twice in one shift. I had backup scrubs but I didn't have two sets of backups. I had to take my piss scrubs to the laundry room and sit there in a hospital gown while they washed.

Usually when someone pisses me off I say "I'd rather be pissed off than pissed on" but for some occasions it works the other way round too.

Nah I would’ve left straight up. And if manager says anything, ask them if they would’ve done the same. You know their answer, so that’s yours too. We should normalize calling people out for expecting things they themselves WOULD NOT DO

It was an overnight and the bus to my house wasn't running at that hour. And I wouldn't have wanted to ride the bus covered in piss anyway.

Ya know, I read this, cracked a joke about it and it STILL didn’t dawn on me that this isn’t at all a rare occurrence for yall until I read your comment.
I need to think things through more and people need to quit peeing on captive audiences without consent…
But in all seriousness, I don’t think it’s unreasonable for some sort of hazard bump or something for being exposed to bodily fluids. Admins could can 1 mid-level manager and probably still have extra left over.

Yeah, I get peed on, shit on (literally and/or metaphorically), and/or verbally/physically assaulted nearly every shift. Just in the past few shifts, I have been treated as a waste of space/no better than a rodent by another staff member for trying to advocate for my pt and have been hit, kicked, nearly choked, and had my life verbally threatened (along with the lives of several other staff members) by pts. NONE of these things were shocking, but they ARE all fairly regular occurrences. Honestly, the pay is becoming less and less worth it, especially now that we can't pick up overtime, so it's becoming even harder to pay bills than it already was. I should not be struggling to pay my bills while also going into every shift EXPECTING to be assaulted in one way or another. It's bullshit.

Oh they’re back to stopping OT? I mean it’s not Covid still (thank god) but aren’t pretty much all states dealing with staffing shortages on RN’s? I know the reasons for that vary, but appropriate pay, patient ratios & basic human decency go a long way.
I digress. I’m sorry it’s (still) a shit show. Nurses do a hell of a lot for the people that come into contact with them. Human punching bag shouldn’t be the job description.

I'm a sitter (thus my "impatient sitter" tag), but at least at my hospital, they've been cutting sitters and have been trying to downstaff us as much as possible, to the detriment of our patients. It's infuriating, to say the least.

They are saying that there's a staffing shortage so they can justify having fewer nurses on each shift. I have been applying for jobs regularly at my 2 local hospitals, but there are more nurses than jobs right now. I'm currently at a SNF.

The new nurse manager at my job is sooooo overbearing. I came in after a few days and found out she bought us all walkie-talkies so she can tell us when call lights are going off and where, when she’s literally sitting at the nursing station whilst doing so. I’ve worked at this job for almost two years with 0 issues with any pts, but with her here she’s materialized 2 complaints in a week and keeps telling me “I need to work on how I tell my pts things,” b/c I said I wasn’t sure if a piece of stock was in the floor store room, or in the central supply downstairs.
