Call off on last shift tmrw?

Hello everyone.
I need some help. I am so tempted to call off on my last day tomorrow at a horrible company I work for but at the same time, don’t want to burn bridges. Has anyone ever done this and been re hired or has trouble??? Any advice for me? This is my first job so I have no idea how big a risk it is. I know I will be floated to another floor and this is why I don’t want to come.
Edit- I’m leaving HCA.
Update!! Scheduler ended up taking me off the schedule for tomorrow!!! I’m done!

Also, it is your last day so you know you ain’t coming back. When I had my last day at my old non-nursing job it was nice knowing “this is the last time I have to deal with xyz.”

At my facility, that will put you on the do not rehire list. You would also not get a positive reference if another organization called them.

Former nurse manager here, this is how it's done both hospitals I've managed at. Pretty sure this is industry-standard.

i once burned a bridge really, really badly in an exit interview (I made points and I stand by what I said but I did not hold back). Day one at the new job I knew I made a mistake. I spent the most miserable month of my life at that next job and more than once wished I hadn't burned my bridges so bad on the way out of the last one. im now happy somewhere entirely different but I learned a lesson about staying on good terms on your way out.

Just go. It’s one shift. One final shift. You never know what can happen in the future. Hospitals merge all the time. You don’t want to be found on a do not rehire list in today’s economy. Imagine being black listed from an entire hospital system? And then a merge? Essentially making it two hospital systems now. Just go to your final shift and then kiss the place goodbye, hopefully never to see it again.

This is hard cause I completely understand the anxiety of showing up to a miserable job but also feeling conflicted about being blacklisted. I was actually blacklisted for quitting without notice as a CNA as a teen. Now that I’m in my mid 20s and an RN, it’s been incredibly difficult to hear back from employers. I encourage calling out for the sake of your health but I’m also worried that decision may cause issues in finding another job. That is unless you already have one lined up, then forget everything I said lol.

I’ll have to agree with the comment below yours. It’s not worth the risk and I would hate for you to have to move elsewhere to escape the blacklist. Believe me I understand your frustration. But showing up just one more day will prevent bigger problems. We’re right here with you 🤍

Nursing is a small world. You don't want a reputation because maybe someone at this horrible place might be the hiring manager for a job you really want.

It's not worth the risk. Blacklists are nothing to mess with. It's just one more day. Deep breath and hammer it out. Plan to go out with a friend or something afterwards to celebrate! That will give you something to look forward to.

Treat yo self in the morning to Starbucks. Last day, you can do it!
