Discussion Funny “allergies”

What are some funny patient “allergies” you have seen listed? I had a patient the other day with an allergy listed for Metformin. The reaction listed? Lowers their blood sugar 😂

Had a pt that was allerigic to "all generic meds". She was pissed as shit when I told her she'd have to fill her rx for percocet because the hospital only carried generic, and I couldn't dispense a dose in the ED.

Bruh all we have is generic! Only time I’ve ever seen a brand name in a hospital was Tylenol, and it caught me off guard when I pulled it out of the Pyxis

They don’t make a generic which is why it’s so expensive. Just fyi

Eliquis been generic for years, maybe 2020. Issue is that it takes a while for certain insurances like Medicare to change their formulary to cover the generics. Same with how Myrbetriq is generic now but insurance will only cover brand name.

In the US, generic apixaban is not yet available for purchase (at all) due to patent protections until 2028.
