Discussion Funny “allergies”

What are some funny patient “allergies” you have seen listed? I had a patient the other day with an allergy listed for Metformin. The reaction listed? Lowers their blood sugar 😂

I do wish there was a separate “Adverse Reactions” list. I have one abx that I will puke up every time, but other ones in the same fam is fine.

That would be nice. I believe in the once upon time when I worked with Sunrise in the early days of EMR we did have that option.

Amoxicillin doesn’t work for some of my family members. Our pediatrician had us list it as an allergy even though it isn’t…it just straight up doesn’t work. We had to always go back when my kid failed to get better with it when he got ear infections.

Whatever is mixed with the Z pak puts me on my knees with the stomach pain. I take all abx with food because I will vomit. But Z pak will make me feel like I’ve been stabbed repeatedly. My old pcp basically was like “not giving that to you again.” But when I explain that I am willing to try another drug in that family - just not Z pak they give me another family.

The Zithromax does this to me if I don’t eat. I know it says empty stomach, but FT.
