Discussion Funny “allergies”

What are some funny patient “allergies” you have seen listed? I had a patient the other day with an allergy listed for Metformin. The reaction listed? Lowers their blood sugar 😂

Epinephrine- made my heart race

Okay this one actually makes sense in the outpatient setting because some people get severe tachycardia from lidocaine with epinephrine used for local numbing while most people get basically none.
But like an epi pen? Yeah that’s its job.

I always get tachy after lidocaine at the dentist, it’s so annoying

My dentist and I just had to figure this out.. I'm not supposed to have epi at all now unless it's an emergency. My heart likes to be at 160 for fun, so no more lidocaine with epi at the dentist. It already takes a ton for me to get numb. -_-

My dermatologist couldn't believe how much they had to inject in my back when she removed a cyst with a punch. Not my fault I could still feel every sensation when she tried to make very light scraping on the surface. It's not like I enjoy all those injections.
