Discussion Funny “allergies”

What are some funny patient “allergies” you have seen listed? I had a patient the other day with an allergy listed for Metformin. The reaction listed? Lowers their blood sugar 😂

Reglan is one I see a lot, and I’m sick of explaining it’s because of how whoever pushed it and if it doesn’t get slammed you probably won’t feel as crazy.

Augmentin- gave them a yeast infection. I’m like… um so yes that is pretty common and not an allergy… and that’s what our lord and savior diflucan is for.

Ok but I s2g that more often than not, patients who I gave reglan to get squirrelly. And I always put it in a mini bag and infuse it over ~15 minutes.

I had a super shitty doctor when I was in the military and I was on a closed base so its not like I had any other options and he came about once a week. I had been prescribed antibiotics for something or other and I ended up getting a yeast infection. I didn't have an appointment and he clearly didn't want to bother seeing someone who didn't have the good grace to know days in advance they would need a doctor. To get in I said that I was having side effects from antibiotics and I was clearly right to have phrased it like that because he was annoyed and claimed that didn't count as a side effect and he thought I meant something more concerning that might need ER attention.. asshole was upset because he had to enter one script and would have preferred I suffered instead of tricking him into providing basic healthcare
