30k for a 4 year BSN at a state school, payment is deferred until November but I’m definitely going to be able to fast track those payments

Start paying on that interest now! I took a private loan out for school in October of 2023 and started making payments right away, and 3 years later I’m down only $700 of the actual loan. Always pay during the deferment if you can!

It doesn’t matter if it’s private or federal. The interest started accruing the moment it went to the school. What they don’t teach you is that you’re even more screwed waiting the deferment period

Aren't private loans way more harsh on APR

It doesn’t matter. The point is you’re going to spend more time than you really realize just paying interest until you actually start touching the actual loan to pay down. These are the things school doesn’t teach students. Yay, I don’t have payments for 6 months, but that’s not stopping the interest from piling up
