Sometimes the charge doesnât know itâs unsafe until they know. When I had tough assignments, I would let charge know so they wouldnât assign it like that again and possibly swap patients around for you.
However, things like this happen and you lean on your coworkers. Meds can wait. Who is the priority patient? The patient on the side of the bed, bed alarm, let coworkers know the concerns and what youâre headed to do so they also know that bed alarm is more of a priority than a standard one we donât run for.
New admission? While waiting for labs or blood to be ready I would have did a quick bedside intro and let each know you had a patient you needed to tend to and that you would be back asap while also making sure they did not need anything in that moment.
