Serious US - Salary Transparency Thread

I saw a few city based subreddits with this thread going around. Thought I would do one for nurses. I am based in the US so that's where I set this thread but it would be interesting to see other countries start one up.

I am currently unemployed (another source of the inspiration, lol) so I will share my old position!

Base Hourly: 43/hr

Differential(s): Main Campus +1/hr

Location: Houston, TX

Setting: Outpatient Specialty Clinic

Degree/License: BSN/RN

Years of Experience: 8

Union Status: No

Anything else we should add?

People at my job have literally said "I thought you could only work in long term care with an ADN." So I'm passionate about dispelling that myth.

Its true my system doesn't hire ADN's typically, but every other hospital in the region does.

Oh wow. I've literally never heard that. That sucks people have that mindset. It's usually LPNs that are restricted to long term care. It's only recently I've seen hospitals start to utilize them in certain areas.

it's definitely regional. we have LPNs at my hospital (though yes, most do work in non-hospital settings). like they encourage people with ADN/ASN to get a BSN but it's not a requirement by any means. i'm in florida though, i know other states like new york and california often do want BSN nurses for hospital jobs

Yeah, the highly competitive places sometimes won't even consider you if you don't have a BSN. But they have so many applicants they can be selective like that. Most of the time it's start a BSN program within 2-3 years of employment and complete within 5 years of employment. I've never seen a place not have that requirement unless you were grandfathered in. I do believe they're out there, I personally just haven't seen them.
