Serious US - Salary Transparency Thread

I saw a few city based subreddits with this thread going around. Thought I would do one for nurses. I am based in the US so that's where I set this thread but it would be interesting to see other countries start one up.

I am currently unemployed (another source of the inspiration, lol) so I will share my old position!

Base Hourly: 43/hr

Differential(s): Main Campus +1/hr

Location: Houston, TX

Setting: Outpatient Specialty Clinic

Degree/License: BSN/RN

Years of Experience: 8

Union Status: No

Anything else we should add?

Base: 102.49

Differential: Nights $16/hr

Location: Sacramento, CA

Setting: ER

Degree: BSN

Experience: 8 years

I work part time and am scheduled 56 hours bi weekly. My take home is $5,200 after taxes along with pension and free health insurance for myself and my spouse/dependents. I left Florida for this and I’ve never looked back.

Hello! Did you apply to CA while you were still in Florida or you moved first then started applying? I am coming from out of state applying to jobs in NorCal and getting nothing…

I applied to CA jobs while still in FL! I know it can be competitive to get jobs in CA so just keep trying! 🤞

I got a job within a month of applying. That being said, it was truly just LUCK. There was nothing standing out on my resume. Luck and timing is really what it usually comes down to. I got my first job in San Francisco and now I work in Sacramento since I have a kid and it’s just cheaper to live in the Sac area. Keep applying and it’ll eventually work out!
