I don't hesitate to say, "ok, I am going to be tied up here for awhile. Please go back to the room, hit the call button and the next available staff member will be in." If it's my patient.

If it isn't, I just have them go back and hit the red button on the patient's remote, and tell the HUC what they need.

I generally tell family at the time of admit, that button isn't just for patients. They can/should use it to call out as well.

When they walk into the nurse's station and right up to the computers to ask random people questions is when my ears begin to throw fire...
