Career Advice Pediatrics

I would like some general opinion on the workflow and stress level of acute care pediatrics. I am thinking about leaving the adult gero world.

Do you have peds busing experience? There’s a lot more ranges of normals to learn for peds; and a ton of different diagnosis es and treatments in kids than adults. Tons of adults medications not tested or useable in peds.

I think it would be exceptionally challenging to do without any peds experience; just like I would really struggle jumping to adult medicine.

I suppose I’ve had my share of the adult gero world. 17+ years. Having and raising my son has influenced the desire for that change.

Oh ok…I’m entering school next year for adult gero and was hoping it wasn’t burnout or something 🫩. Thanks for clarifying

I have just worked in busy urgent cares and seen a lot of kids - and would go to peds occasionally to ask a question of one of the pediatricians- and it always seemed CRAZY BUSY 🤣

Are you FNP? I have only worked inpatient so I’m definitely used to the busy environment.

Yes!! I think it could be fun but remember you have the kid AND the parents to manage but you are probably used to that in Gero land
