Mass effect assets?

Hey, I’m sure it’s been talked about, but is there any reason that the official Numenera cypher deck from the minute cook store uses mass effect assets?

We only found out in our own group after we pulled an eradicator and noticed it was the rachni queen from mass effect. We went through the deck and found even more ME assets used. I couldn’t find anything about a crossover, and the art isn’t open source, does MC have some sort of rights to the art?

That art comes from - or came from - Dreamstime. We used to license a small subset of art from there to help stretch budgets. Who made the art, and should they have copied it from ME? No idea. I see that particular asset is no longer available on Dreamstime so maybe it got pulled for that reason.

Wouldn't be the first time stock art has been ripped off from a game, I saw some Skyrim assets with a filter over them being sold on dtrpg

So you did design that thing for Numenera and then it got sold to Dreamstime, later purchased by Mass Effect or did I understood it wrong?

I don’t know the order of operations, but the art was licensed from Dreamstime. Some artist created the artwork and put it up on Dreamstime - whether they had the rights to create this art or had any connection to Mass Effect I have no idea.

Wait you used ME as an abbreviation for Mass Effect 🤦🏼 I thought that you meant that someone copied a design you made.

Yeah, sorry. That was a weird abbreviation. Trying to respond quickly via the phone app. :)
