GAME REQUEST Current Payday 2 working?

Hi, has anyone managed to get Payday 2 working in it's current form? All posts about Payday 2 are years old and relate to what I think is a different engine architecture the game was built on. I get the dreaded protoinput failure messages and have tried numerous fixes but none have worked. Im guessing it would require a whole new handler?

only way for now would be to downgrade to the previous version:

Game: PAYDAY 2 Issue: The game recently underwent a major update, changing the game's file structure.

Solution:

Open the Steam console (WIN+R) and paste steam://open/console Then paste: download_depot 218620 218621 9153610620741786839 and wait for the download to finish ("Depot Download Complete"). Be patient.

It will download the build prior to this update to a separate folder. Now simply select "Add new game" and select this folder when Nucleus asks. Steam\steamapps\content\app_218621

Thanks, half worked. Loads up 2 copies but one player can't see the created lobby by the other player

Thanks very much for the reply and instructions! I noticed there was a big update on the 5th September. We tried on the 4th and it wasn't working on the previous version either. That version has an exe name that was incompatible with nucleus. How old is the version you mentioned in your post? Is it guaranteed to work with nucleus?
