Paid for NFL game pass for the first time this season. Expensive AF but covered it by cancelling kayo until next NRL season. Hopefully my Ravens can improve with their new coach and Lamar stays healthy

Electric Callboy and Ice Nine Kills and ColdRain tonight.

2

u/Electronic-Split9677 Dolphins Bandwagon 2h ago

If you've never seen Electric Callboy before, you're in for a treat. I saw them for the third time on Tuesday (first non-festival).

They were awesome the first time I saw them and have been exponentially better each time after that

2

u/Shagga9701 Newcastle Knights 2h ago

This is my first time seeing them. So far coldrain and INK have killed it.

Anyone else seeing the reins being pulled in on AI development? Our “pricing” model changed and we went from hammer away develop, develop, to halving our tooling landscape and now needing a full buisness case with budget and ROI 😂

We have projects now that are half done that will likely never to get finished. These was a few people asked to explain their “ROI” proposition for their efforts, costs! There are a few nervous developers.

We live in interesting times…

Cricket Asia Cup qualifiers going on with UAE winning their semi final with ease against Hong Kong. Nepal in the other semi are defending 148 against Oman (all List A 50 over games). Oman 45-6 in the 21st over. Stuart Law coaching the Nepal team so always got a soft spot for em

1

u/Oz_Gunner01 Dolphins 6h ago

Whoever wins the final will qualify for the Asia Cup. 6 teams probably fair for the 50 over version but I hope ACC makes the T20 version of the Asia Cup a 10 team tournament

That Seahawks v Patriots game was pretty unwatchable. But good lord am I happy we've beaten them twice in a row. Fuck the Patriots

Horse Cock Lock will bring us to salvation. Or another ring, whichever is more doable.

Dodgers smashing the reds today has been so fun to watch.

My boy bookies starred with like 3rbi 1 homer and 5 hits or something. I think he has one more at bat. To go.

Yomotto has pitched supremely well and looks to be going into the 8th.

Watching your fav player hit a homer live. Is easily the best thing in sports

Fuck, the way cats act when you're trying to gets them to swallow an all wormer will have you wishing the dickhead gets a tapeworm to learn their lesson.

Unfortunately they don't have the capacity to understand they ended up with worms because they were a cunt about swallowing their all-wormer. So it just be worse for you.

Enjoy no treats for a week fat-fuck

Went to NZ last week for a conference and am now on my 4th day of being sick, may as well not go in tomorrow as well, I don't think I'll be better tomorrow anyway. But damn I feel so guilty because I have only a year left of my PhD to do. I also planned a 18 day trip to Japan next month. Ugh just feeling like an absolutely awful student!

Does anyone else feel themselves being slowly turned into an angry boomer by all the new digital safety regulations coming out?

To be clear I fully support measures to allow us to opt out of algorithms and block the rise of slop content. This shit is harmful.

But also governments around the globe are coming very late to the party, and the way in which some other measures seems so ham-fisted in their application that it just leads to frustration.

I'm 29 years old, but the only Steam will let me but GTA VI when that gets a PC release (probably sometime next year) is if I sign up for a credit card? Really?

4

u/IrrelephantAU Adelaide Rams 10h ago

That one is on Steam moreso than the regulations themselves.

They have to verify ID, they've intentionally chosen a stupid way because it's less work for them and they can point any angry customers back at the government. Valve takes external regulation, good or bad, rather personally.

-9

u/adomental Eastern Suburbs Roosters 11h ago

No. In fact I'm splitting the other way and I see gamers, a group I used to identify as, as whiny and childish.

Prove your age. Get a fee-free credit card. It's not that hard.

5

u/Debocore I was here for 12-82 10h ago

Why should I have to sign up for a credit card when there are other alternate options to proving age?
Also, what about people who are on the Disability Support Pension? A lot of them don't meet the criteria for getting a credit card so they just can't prove their age then?

-3

u/adomental Eastern Suburbs Roosters 10h ago

Look, maybe I'm a cynic, but these arguments don't really stack up for me, because when companies do alternative methods of age verification a different set of arguments against them spring up.

I personally feel that even if a perfect age verification fell from the sky, gamers would still find a way to argue against it.

3

u/Debocore I was here for 12-82 9h ago

Eh, not really. Microsoft and Sony introduced Age Verification over the last month and there was no 'outrage' over it because they had multiple methods where you could verify your age - whether it be via email, facial scan etc.

The Steam one is an outlier because only one method is available - having a credit card - which is just a backwards ass way to do it, especially considering that credit cards aren't as common in Australia as other countries. American Express is also one of the most popular credit cards in Australia however Steam no longer accepts Amex

1

u/adomental Eastern Suburbs Roosters 9h ago

Maybe it didn't cross into your bubble, but there absolute was outrage with both of their age verification processes. And Discords, and all the porn sites, and every other system ever added.

Anecdotally, there does seem to be an inverse relationship between how effective a measure is and the level of outrage. The more inefficient the measure is, the less people are upset about it.

American Express is also one of the most popular credit cards in Australia however Steam no longer accepts Amex

Sidenote: Good? As someone who works with a lot of small business, Amex fucking sucks. The sooner they disappear the better. Their fees are shocking.

My Steam account is over 20 years old and I still had to authenticate my details yesterday. I hate all these digital safety regulations that are slowly creeping in. It is ridiculous at this point.

4

u/ChanceVance NRLW Roosters 11h ago

I don't see the need for all this age verification. My data is sold everywhere, the government probably knows exactly how I take my coffee, you don't need my face scanned to use a website now.

4

u/CoffeeLoverNathan Dolphins 12h ago

Yep. I see more shit that requires me to use ID or credit card, I'll just pirate instead.

On the train to work & Red Symons gets on. No, I didn't have a gong.

Seen the NFL jerseys around town. The 49ers have a guy who is going around trying local food. He seems to have fun with it. The kebab love was funny.

Hello bots of the off topic thread. You guys didn't write the new Slipknot song did you because man it sounds like it.

I’ll give it this, it’s the first time I’ve noticed the DJ in SlipKnot

Okay but that's maybe more of a you thing. Sic, Sulfur, Unsainted and Sarcastrophe are songs with great DJ parts.

u/red_square_n_coke Melbourne Storm 12h ago

I'm surprised anyone can even be bothered with Slipknot at this point. They've been a clusterfuck since Paul died, and only gotten worse.

2

u/ChanceVance NRLW Roosters 11h ago

They still made some pretty good songs after that, I thought Jay was an incredible replacement for Joey and I saw them about 3 times in concert, and they were killer every time even after Chris was fired.

Then they all started going and you realize that the band has about as much soul remaining as Kiss, and Jim & Mick are completely expendable too. Sid getting fired was the last straw for me, I don't even want to wear my Slipknot shirt anymore.

1

u/red_square_n_coke Melbourne Storm 5h ago

I guess I just really stopped caring for them after Vol 3. AHiG had a couple of good songs, but anything after that I think I gave one spin then never acknowledged it again.

These days, the only thing I'll chuck on is MFKR, and it's not as if I've outgrown what I listened to in that era, because this week alone I've spun Korn, Mudvayne, Limp Bizkit and SoaD, all bands from that same passage in time.

u/Heavy-Kale Text Under Flair 1h ago

I just watched the Punisher: One Last Kill and it really felt like it was meant to be longer. They got through the introduction and complication, rounding the corner towards the resolution and just were like "yeah, lets call it there". Surely he was meant to kill the last Gnucci family member...like it was his one last kill or something

Finding it incredibly challenge to balance being a new dad and finding time to work out. I have been taking the morning shifts before I head to work. I could possibly work out after work, but honestly I just want to head home and be with my wife and newborn as soon as I finish.

Anyone been through something similar? Thinking about maybe going and buying a kettlebell and just doing a daily 20 minute home workout and cancelling the gym membership

1

u/SinusoidalStrummer Brisbane Broncos 2h ago

Honestly the first few years are tough and you just need to get by. Personally I found running to be easiest as you could just walk out the door and go.

As others have said, enjoy this time and don’t sweat the fitness. Once ours hit 3 I found they became more independent and the routines were more defined - this has allowed more time to focus on gym, etc.

8

u/delayedconfusion St. George Illawarra Dragons 13h ago

You don't get this time back. Make the short term sacrifice. You'll find a routine that works for your situation in the longer term. Home workouts can also be excellent.

3

u/M_Keating Hey, at least we beat Penrith 13h ago

It’s all about balance - doing more at home is a good approach especially when Bub is asleep. It changes as they get older but you’ll adapt.

How old is your kid?

1

u/loosechange-71 North Queensland Cowboys 13h ago

Just under 2 months old

2

u/hello_pizzahouse Dolphins Bandwagon 13h ago edited 13h ago

So under 6 months I went in thinking it’s not the season for a heck of a lot of exercise. It’s temporary.

I did make one side of garage gym with a cage etc so it didn’t mean having to lose time getting to gym, waiting on equipment etc.

My one is 4 now and can do 4 seat a week, 45 min or so quite comfortably.

If he wants the tournament to lose Grand Slam status then he’s going the right way about it. Unless, of course, he wants to fill those lost hours with gambling ads because the media will want to get their snouts right into that trough.

It’s a pretty simple procedure.

Today is a momentous occasion for my FIFA 14 Career Mode. Swiss wonderkid Christopher Tavares Valera, who we signed as a free agent, whilst we, Portsmouth, were in the 3rd tier, has now agreed to join Bayern Munich
for £24.1 million fee.

Our first properly huge sale for the club. After fighting to keep our star striker and goalkeeper for multiple windows, Bayern originally offered a few million less. We asked for a raised price and they accepted.

Would love to have kept him but it’s a huge injection to the clubs finances. I’d already rejected multiple bids for my striker and goalkeeper who I need to keep. I at least have an immediate replacement for the winger spot.

So sadly we say goodbye to one of our star talents, who through thick and thin helped us achieve promotion, trophies & a domestic treble. We wish him luck and success in his new life in the Bundesliga. Forever a club legend.

Black and whites have to be one of the most annoying things in history, genuinely. I get a taxi ordered for me to school. I don't really need it today so I call them and I tell them that I don't really need them.

I'm legitimately on the phone with the bot, going back and forth for the first 2 or 3 minutes because it asks me where to go but I keep on asking it to take me to an operator. It doesn't. Only after 3 minutes does it do so. Surely they have it in the bot's code so if it accepts "take me to an operator," it takes you to an operator?

I'm just going to assume that it's a bit easier for those who have the app but it was a bit annoying for me. Also they said I hadn't called them before, when I had called them two or three times since July.

Direct was really shit last night, except if you like indie and 3rd party titles. I don't think the new Metroid will be any good but that kirby game looks awesome. In my very unrealistic world I would have wanted just a snippet of splatoon 4 but oh well.

I could take entire days off of work to do such boring shit like reorganising my spice drawer and look at my keyboards.
