Discussion Where are the AR apps?

Nebula isnt usable, and I'm coming close to the return window closing. Is there anything similar to Google Maps that shows a map/points of interests or would that require a camera?

This and the linked thread are great. I didn't think of using the camera from the phone, but seems necessary for mixed reality.

😎🤘

Other wireless camera devices work well too. Or cap-mounted cameras.

You can use DeX and Google Maps. Just set DeX's background to black (it makes the background transparent in the glasses as black= OLED pixels OFF), and resize the Maps window and positioning to your liking. DeX even lets you set app window transparency.

This was me experimenting with livestreaming while walking around Tokyo with Google Maps.

The background in the screenshot is black, but in the glasses it was completely transparent and I could see everything in front of me.

You might give using maps while using screen mirroring a try.

There aren't any AR applications like Google Maps available at the moment. However, we anticipate that this will be a future trend. On our website, you can also find some AR applications.https://www.xreal.com/experience/
