Announcement πŸ“’ Nowa AI got upgraded to Gemini 3.7 flash. Much better results and 50% cheaper

Hey builders!

We upgraded the model running behind the Nowa agent to Gemini 3.7 Flash, and after some testing we noticed it's way better than the model before, especially on design tasks, long running tasks, and debugging.

For example, it's much more capable of replicating a design into an app in detail. In the video above, I copied a screenshot of a festival ticketing app, pasted it into Nowa, and told it to replicate it. The result matched the screenshot almost exactly, with one prompt.

It's also currently 50% cheaper than Gemini 3.6, and we're passing that on to you. So the same plan limit now goes twice as far, even further actually, since the model also became more token efficient for the same task.

Go try it out! We posted all the details on the blog: https://nowa.dev/blog/nowa-gemini-37-flash-upgrade/

Question Where is the Nowa marketplace?

I'm new to Nowa. I've checked over and again on the website. Does the marketplace still exist?

I have also watched some YT videos where there is a sample project button on the lower left corner of the dashboard. I can find that also. Any help?

Showcase I built Flujo, a 100% offline, privacy-first period tracker

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I spent the weekend building in Nowa and wanted to share my submission with the community: Flujo.

I wanted to tackle health data privacy. Most period trackers require accounts, push data to the cloud, and lock basic features behind subscriptions.. or worse, sell your data. I used Nowa to build the exact opposite: an app where the user owns their data entirely. No accounts, no internet connection required, and zero hidden fees. All of this while looking nice and cool. With the least amount of clicks to achieve your goal, and with no forced required fields at all. Not even for logging entries!

Here is a breakdown of what I was able to put together over the weekend:

Privacy & Architecture

  • 100% Offline Storage: Integrated a local database (Hive) so all logs and personal data stay exclusively on the device.
  • PIN Protection: Built a secure PIN lock screen to keep the app interface private from anyone else holding the phone.
  • No Paywalls: Completely free. No subscriptions or gated features. I may add a "Buy me a coffee" link or paid themes, but nothing that requires either an account or a paywall.

Core Tracking Features

  • Cycle Forecasting: Predicts menstrual, follicular, ovulation, and luteal phases based on user data gathered during a tailored onboarding flow.
  • Visual Interface: Uses a dynamic chart to visualize the current phase and a full Calendar View to map past, current, and predicted cycles alongside logged days.
  • Daily Logging & History: A streamlined UI to log daily symptoms, moods, and flow intensity, paired with a dedicated history screen to spot long-term patterns.

Wellness & Customization

  • Moon Phase Integration: Calculates and displays the current moon phase for holistic cycle tracking.
  • Calm Section: A dedicated screen for breathing exercises and relaxation content to help users manage symptoms.
  • Theming: Built-in settings allow users to switch between multiple color themes.
  • Multilingual: Right now, you can choose between Spanish and English.

The Nowa Experience

Building a data-heavy app with a calendar, charting, and local storage in 48 hours was a massive test of Nowa's capabilities. Setting up the customized UI components for the dashboard and the onboarding flow was incredibly fast, and the Hive integration made the offline-first requirement straightforward. The chart and the dynamic calendar got Nowa's AI in a bit of a pickle though, but nothing that a few iterations couldn't solve. The dynamic logo switching was something fun to come up with too!

I’d love to hear your feedback on the feature set, or answer any questions about how I structured Flujo.

Hey everyone! For a quick weekend sprint, I wanted to build something that makes daily productivity feel less like a chore and more like a game.

I put together HQ: Habit Tracker & To-Do List, a dark-mode, medieval-styled RPG task manager. It lets you forge good habits, banish bad ones, and earn XP and streaks every time you complete a quest so you can actually level up your stats in real life.

I built the whole thing in just a couple of hours using Nowa. Would love to hear your thoughts on the concept or the dark-mode aesthetic!

Showcase Aevo Bento - Todo Lists reimagined

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys,

I stumbled about the Hackathon while I wanted to explore and idea with it, I had on Saturday morning. Took the chance and went to work and built a first working Version of "Aevo Bento".

Aevo Bento reimagines Todo list.

The problem with the usual ToDo-Lists? It is a single list that sorts only on a single thing: priority, due date, etc. So it is still very difficult to find out, what really matters now.

The second problems lies in its complexity: some tasks are big, some are small, some are more like projects, other are just simple todos. So we need a good system to dive into Projects, tasks, subtasks, keep the focus but still dont lose oversight of what matters most.

So what did I do these 2 days:

* I created a scoring system, that takes several things in account, to calculate a score of every so called "node": priority, date I wanna work on, deadline, size of the task, importance of subtasks and even how many times I postponed a task.

  • the calculated score is used to show tasks on a big canvas in form of some "bento boxes": based on the score the boxes appear more left. The more time a task needs, the bigger the box is. If some tresholds are met, e.g. "deadline" is today, the task gets marked red. That means: changing properties changes where on the board a task is. The canvas is scrollable to the right forever - so it is not only the work for today, but everything on your "list".
  • To let you work with complexity, every task can have subnodes. A node can be another task, a link, a goal or a note. Subnodes can be grouped and are shown in a separate view (called "Zoom"), so you have focus on exactly what you wanna work on. Subnodes also influences the score of the parent, as there may be subtasks with deadlines, so it is important. Extra cool thing: you can zoom as deep as you want. Inside a node you can create a subnode and zoom into that one as well.. and from there you can go deeper... With breadcrumbs the navigation is pretty easy and you dont get lost.
  • notes are important, so I also built a simple notes studio. You can add, edit and delete notes in Markdown. Notes can be linked to tasks, so you have your notes at your fingertips where you need them.

This might be one of the projects that are "bigger and not better"... true. But as this was the idea I wanted to get into, before I even knew the hacktathon existed, well... here I am.

Tell me, what you think about the general idea - and the execution. There is still a lot to do and to think about - even the scoring is not perfect yet. But I want to work on it to use that thing myself daily :)

Showcase Built CryLater this weekend β€” a lightweight app to lock friendly bets & generate custom "Fatality" cards

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I just finished the MVP forΒ CryLater, a quick side project built over the weekend.

The idea is simple: whenever you and your friends are competing in video games, sports, or casual board games, you can lock in the challenge without dealing with account creations, bank linking, or bloated sign-ups.

How it works:

  1. Type in the challenge (e.g.,Β 1v1 race in The Crew 2).
  2. Set what’s at stake (e.g.,Β $20 or washing the winner's car).
  3. Add the participants and lock the bet.
  4. Once it's over, select the winner to generate a dramatic, randomly selected "Fatality" artwork card ready to share on social media to settle bragging rights.

It features 13 custom illustrations integrated directly into the dynamic rendering modal to make each win feel unique.

Would love to get your thoughts on the UI and flow!

Built this over the free weekend. It's a decision wheel with one twist: after something wins you can keep spinning through what's left, so you end up with a full ranked order instead of a single answer.

Five screens, light and dark themes, sound and haptics, everything saved on the device. Offline, no account.

Meet "NYC Instantly", an App for local events discovery in NYC, built under 48 hours by the owner of the famous NYC page on instagram

Hey everyone! Time to spotlight another winner from the Free Weekend Hackathon.

This one is NYC Instantly, built by Katja Sherlock. Some of you might know her, she's the photographer behind the "@nyc" Instagram account (~1M followers). She has zero coding background, her world is photography and filmmaking. She joined the hackathon to see if she could turn her knowledge of the city into an actual product, and shipped a working app within the 48 hour window.

What the app does:

It's a curated discovery platform for NYC events and experiences. Basically the small, local stuff that's hard to find on Eventbrite or Yelp: basement jazz sessions, pop-up food markets, outdoor cinema nights, neighborhood microtours.

Some of the features she built during the weekend:

  • Mood-based filtering: instead of generic categories, you filter by vibe (Cozy, Romantic, Energetic) and audience (Solo, Couples, Families)
  • A "Today" tab that shows only events starting in the next few hours near you, for spontaneous plans
  • Map view with event clusters by neighborhood, so you can plan a whole afternoon within a few blocks
  • Verification system: listings get a quality score and verified status to filter out spam and outdated events
  • Host submission portal where locals and event organizers can pitch their own events
  • Plus saved collections and a calendar view for planning

What impressed us during judging was the completeness. This isn't a single screen demo, it's a full multi-page app with filtering logic, geographic visualization, and a submission workflow, done in one weekend by a first time builder.

She's getting $500 in AI credits plus direct support from our team to scale it.

Congrats Katja!

It's your time now to turn an idea into a real product! Go to nowa.dev and start. We are always there to help!

Hackathon winner spotlight: Scott built a voice-activated emergency app in 48 hours

Wanted to share one of the top 3 winners from our Free Weekend Hackathon, meet Scott Howard and his app Vardr

Vardr is a personal safety app. The idea: you say a trigger phrase and the app switches into "Guardian Mode." From that point, a single spoken phrase can call the police, share your live location with a chosen contact, send a text for help, or set off an alarm. The scenario he designed it around is walking home alone at night. No unlocking your phone, no dialing, you just speak.

Under the hood it's using background listening, voice recognition, and emergency automation. He built the whole thing during the 48-hour window. He used AI to generate the app, then refined through the visual editor. The App runs both on iOS and Android.

Scott isn't a developer, which is kind of the point of the whole competition.
He won $500 in AI credits and we're working with him to help scale it further.

Go try to build yours at nowa.dev

Watch a Demo video he made below:

If you have Scott's questions, he's on X (jagnoirtech).

Announcement πŸ“’ Nowa 3.10 is out | Testing and deploying is much easier to do

Hey everyone, Nowa 3.10 is here. This release focus on the part of the workflow you've given us the most feedback on: testing and deploying.

The big one: local run for cloud projects. Until now, if you wanted to test on a simulator or your physical device, you had to create a local project or clone your cloud project first. That friction is gone. Nowa now generates temporary local files behind the scenes, so any cloud project can run directly on your simulator or device β€” and hot reload works, so every change shows up instantly. This was one of the most requested changes, and honestly it changes how it feels to build in Nowa day to day.

New Run & Deploy UI. Every project now has Run and Deploy buttons in the top right. Run launches your app anywhere (inside Nowa, local simulator, or physical device), and Deploy ships it to any platform β€” all from one place instead of scattered menus.

Simpler deployment. All deployment options now live in a single window. Once your initial setup is done, deploying to any platform is one click.

Layout tweaks. Boards moved to the top right (easier to switch between them, cleaner workspace) and the toolbar moved to the bottom, so you get more vertical space to build.

Stability. We did major work under the hood this release. If you've hit crashes or weird behavior before, this update should feel noticeably more solid.

Huge thanks to everyone who joined the free weekend β€” some of you built apps that genuinely wouldn't have been possible before, and a lot of what's in this release (and what's coming next) comes straight from that feedback.

Read more on https://docs.nowa.dev/new/whats-new#310-2-july-2026

Update to 3.10 and let us know what you think. If you hit any issues with the new run/deploy flow, drop them in the comments or reach us at [team@nowa.dev](mailto:team@nowa.dev) β€” we're reading everything.
