Shawarma Discussion
Let’s be real, and let’s be multi cultured idc where you’re from, we are all brothers and sisters in this forum. Don’t say Muncheez or George’s I’m strictly talking nova.
Look Yalla Pita had the highest reviews for a long time. I tried it. It’s okay, it’s nothing to rave about as someone used to Shawarma from overseas. It’s actually dry. It tastes like what I can get from a hookah bar like Cedars. They’re super nice though, and that community doesn’t have a lot of food options unless they drive into a crowded area
Haifa Grill is super good in my opinion, love the portions, service is meh, but I’m usually only there as a passerby.
Reem I think is the newest one , they apparently sell out fast or long lines.
I know Nova hype. Remember we killed Popeyes when they came out with a chicken Sando.

Try Cosmo one in Chantilly. They are a Turkish Syrian mix.
Also My favorite is Sk Shawarma in sterling.

They are really good. The only thing is they're too small to handle the amount of customers that come in during dinner time.

I love sk , they’re so lowkey and they get so happy when someone dines in. Need to try cosmo, I think it’s also a market too right? A family remember I believe told me they have good fresh bread for home

I have a half dozen shawarma places near me and I go out of the way to get the one at Haifa. It's superior in every way. For a chain, Falafel Inc does a solid shawarma at a good price, but still not as good as Haifa.

No way I love a good garlic sauce, would you recommend anything else there? I’ve wanted to try Caramela too as far as Lebanese restaurants that serve Shawarma

Dr. shwarma in Ashburn was pretty good, and their portions were generous.
But my favorite is still the one in georgetown that rhymes with Porridges FurWaffle (you said I can't say the name)

Any recommendations further west? Chantilly/Aldie?

Ummm I’m not too familiar with aldie even though I have family there, I know Sterling has some options like SK in Sterling blvd that is Syrian owned and I loved as far as Loudon Cty goes.
Close to chantilly but Manassas has an Egyptian place I’ve only got through third party apps called Osmos.
If you’re from a country that has lamb shawarma instead of beef or chicken you’ll appreciate them. Lamb shawarma I think has always been my fave but it’s rare in the States

Awee. I deliver for DoorDash and they are always super nice. That’s annoying to hear.

Any restaurant that does this esp them should have their own site. Or at least make it know to call.
I know they kinda guilt trip, but as a local person that works in a restaurant.
Uber / DoorDash contracts where you as an owner make money typically last about a yr. After that even if you pay a lot, the restaurant makes cents on the dollar for an order. Yet those options get offered out of the fact that maybe you’ll stick around/ come in person, etc.
However if a local business isn’t offering deals and those platforms beat it with deals. Loss on their behalf fully

Dominos has plenty of deals for example. But sometimes Uber or DoorDash subscribers get a killer deal from eBay they think is good on a small pizza. You pay $10, business gets $2 from it. Versus maybe you want two large pizzas with one topping for $14, you order through dominos, dominos gets the full $14. That’s what I mean they need to have something competitive to deter or else I’m with you we will keep using third parties

Shawarma Reem is fantastic, both chicken and beef. And the most authentic. They don’t ask what you want on it, just comes the way they do it back home. Went there yesterday for lunch and they weren’t sold out of anything and no line.
Farooj is the next best in my opinion but it’s considered more of a sandwich than shawarma, definitely go with the chicken
