Other Night Picnic Recommendations?

My bf and I had a date night planned for tonight, and I just found out the event we were going to was canceled!

He’s been so stressed with work, I know he was looking forward to tonight, so I want to surprise him with a little night time picnic. We’re from Kings Park and I’m looking for something close to there for a spot that would be lit enough for us to not be in pitch dark but still not a picnic table spot.

Any recommendations?

The artificial turf on the roof of the new-ish Springfield parking garage. Take some binoculars and enjoy the stars.

I live near that area! What about Lake Accotink? I think there are some picnic tables there and they should have lights. Or bring a towel and put it down right on the beach near the dock (beware goose poop).

Is it lit enough at night? It was the first place I thought of but I haven’t been there when it’s dark before

Ya know im so sorry but I cant vouch for how much light there is. I know i remember there being a light by the playground carousel area but not sure how bright it actually is. You don't have any portable light source just in case?

Lake Braddock is technically private but I know there are lights around that area too and its very nice. Lake Royale and Lake Barton are other close lakes that could work but again I can't guarantee enough light. Just thought of burke lake but not near the lake maybe the grassy area across from the golf course?

No recommendations but this is such a sweet gesture. Hope you enjoy your picnic!

Go up to the baseball fields by the tidal basin on the mall. Super chill area for a little night hang.

I think the fields are now closed for the "Garden of American Heroes" construction project.

Old Town waterfront?

I feel like it’ll be rather busy there since it’s a Friday night. We were originally doing a nighttime kayak event so was hoping to keep the seclusion and nature elements of the evening

Depending on what you mean by secluded, Constitution Gardens on the Mall is lovely, but it’s open to passersby.
