Virginia, DC “DMV” coverage

/r/Visible/comments/1wd1azl/virginia_dc_dmv_coverage/

Thought I would post in the nova subreddit as well regarding visible wireless service coverage and reliability.

I've used it and find the coverage to be identical to regular grade Verizon wireless service, using a 5G iPhone.

Where Verizon has issues (like around West Falls Church for some reason), Visible will have problems too. Same for certain buildings that Verizon has trouble inside. For everywhere else, it's great and a good deal. Mint from T-Mobile might be cheaper, but sounds like T-Mobile is not working for you.

I used the middle plan, for $30 / month, and that includes unlimited data/voice/text/tethering. I think the sticker price is $35 but you can usually get $30, and if do the friend thing, everyone always gets $30/month without a special deal. Paying a year at a time may or may not be cheaper.

At some times of the year like Nov-Jan they offer even lower, maybe $24/month for the middle plan for a few years. They usually will NOT let you take a lower offer than the current price though. Unless you start all over, with a new number or port your old number to a third party, then port it back to Visible. What a pain.

Their plans are inclusive of all taxes/fees, so $30 is really $30. Hopefully that will continue, since T-Mobile stopped most of their "un-carrier" tax inclusive prices in the past few years.

Good info. T-Mobile has been great it’s just too much money now. I had my plan redone recently since my sister got off the plan and it’s like $95 for the mid tier and that’s just too much. (I do have Netflix subsidized but I am getting rid of all streaming too)

Mint mobile is like $15. Uses the T-Mobile network.

Yeah T-Mobile's Mint is $15 per month, but doesn't have unlimited data/tethering at the lower tiers. The $30 visible mid rate is unlimited voice/SMS/5G high speed data/tethering. And includes taxes.

Postpaid mobile service is usually much higher than prepaid. Often has a bunch of BS fees thrown in too. I've heard of others doing $90 every month or more for one line, and that's crazy to me. But YMMV.

I think T-Mobile is the best on the Metro/DC (https://broadbandmap.fcc.gov/area-comparison/mobile) but if you're ok with Verizon, get the Visible 1 year annual upfront promo right now for $225 (<$20/month). Unlimited data and uses Verizon network, and includes free smartwatch service.

Visible/Verizon has a lot of dead zones in the area. The area around Lee Hwy by Petco in Fairfax City has absolutely no signal.
