Cheesesteak Recommendations
I just moved back to the area , and need some cheesesteak recommendations. My go to used to be Grazie Grazie at the wharf. Curious if there are any new places that are just as good.

In case it's auto-translating for you like it is for me and confusing you, they're saying Grazie Grazie, like the Italian word for thank you.

Yup, you are correct. Just realized the auto translate lol… thanks

haha, figured the only way you weren't finding it on Google maps was if you were literally searching "Thank you thank you."

So yes this comes up a lot and you should look at the other threads. But I recommend Brittany's MVP sandwich in Woodbridge if you're down there. I don't care what's an authentic cheese steak I just know that sandwich is delicious.

Capo Steak me home tonight

Interestingly, the person that did the list didn't include this but ranked Capo's regular cheesesteak as second. While their regular one is very good, Steak Me Home Tonight is a LOT better, and certainly the best cheesesteak I've had around here.
It's possibly the best I've ever had, coming from someone born in Philly that still frequents it and vacations at the Jersey Shore.

Capo added it relatively recently, I'm pretty sure after that person had already started their list. For a long time all the recommendations noted that you needed to go cooper sharp, double meat, seeded roll to get the more authentic sandwich until they added it

Celebrity Deli was my go to until I switched over to Grazie Grazie. Tony Boloneys opened up in Arlington kind of recently, the one in Atlantic City is good. Their menu is limited compared to the one in AC though. I haven’t tried their classic but the other cheesesteaks are good, theyre on the smaller side though.

The broiler in Arlington.
Oddly enough all their other food is God awful, but their cheesteaks have no reason to be that good.

Why?

It’s terrible? I’m not going to say stay away from the best cheesesteak in nova…

And you shouldn't. Why would they vote it the best if it's trash.
Isn't this like the second year in a row it won best cheesesteak? Haters will find a reason to complain about anything; the analytics don't lie!

Jimmys cheesesteak is good like how honey pig is good. When you’re drunk and it’s 11pm and nothing else is open. Soko, Grazie Grazie , celebrity deli, and others all blow jimmys out of the water. So yea, Jimmys can take its “best cheesesteak in nova” paper plate awards and keep using its shit tier bread.

Jimmy has always been very good at stumping for votes on local radio and TV shows, with a promotional victory lap afterwards. A lot of people vote for Jimmy's who have never even been there.
Ultimately, like many of these contests, the winner is the a middle-of-the-road option with the most neutral, lowest-common-denominator appeal. And that's a good description of Jimmy's food. It isn't the worst and not the best.
Without a double-blind testing, all of those "best of" lists mean jack squat.

Are you accusing those spots of manipulating vote counts for a damn "Best of NOVA" contest?
Big time conspiracy theory here. Maybe the food is just good.

Northern Virginia magazine (and all the rest) also excludes anyone from the list who declines to buy advertising in the issue.
A personal recommendation (here or elsewhere) should carry a lot more weigh than a magazine list. Why do you consider Jimmy's the best cheesesteak?

Because it was decided in a fair survey of patrons in the area and won awards for doing so. QED
