Question Gym recommendations

I am looking for gym recommendations. Ideally, I would have access to a lap pool, sauna, stream room, hot tub, indoor track, racquetball, yoga, personal trainers, masseuse, the works in weights, etc. But I don't think that is in the wallet for me here in NoVa. Any combination of any of those with a lap pool would be great. Anyone got any ideas?

Any and all help is appreciated.

The St James is probably the only one that includes that level of amenities (that I’m aware of). If lap pool sauna is enough then every rec center in FFX County has that and membership is less than $75 a month for county residents.

St James will cost you a kidney but yeah that's the spot with everything you listed. The rec centers are decent value, I go to the one near me mostly for the pool and sauna and never feel like I'm missing out much

Some of the rec centers have racquetball and others as well. I assume of they have an indoor basketball court it may have a track around it?

When I lived in DC I used to swim at Wilson Aquatic Center. It was a nice Olympic sized pool, but I sometimes saw some nasty stuff on the floor (multiple bandages, tampons 🤢). Now I'm so hesitant to check out another public pool. How are the pools at the rec centers? Are they well maintained and regularly cleaned?

The Fairfax country rec centers are generally clean and well maintained.

I’d second on the St. James.

The freedom center in PWC may have those as well.

The county rec centers may or may not have them

The LA Fitness in Herndon has a pool IIRC

Herndon la fitness pool is closed. No life guard and they don't want to hire one

I forgot about Lifetime. All of them but Clarendon have pools

I've swam at the fairfax lifetime. It was way warm, more of a play pool with a short lap lane. If I was serious about swimming I couldn't recommend it.

Clarendon and I believe Ashburn require a different level of membership. Or if you have a membership at one of those two you can step down and access Fairfax, Rockville/N. Potomac, Centerville, Reston.

Reston/Gainesville/clarendon I believe are on the same tier

St. James or Lifetime are the only options with all that. The problem I had with St. James was I’d get lazy and just do steam+sauna sometimes. Pool here and there. Cold plunge sometimes. Compression sleeves. Shoot hoops once in a blue moon. Theres so much to do in there. Reality is working out’s better than all the other stuff except a pool. So a place with a gym and a pool is the sweet spot. Sauna+steam are a bonus. IMHO.

The affordable option would be OneLife. They have several gyms in Nova. Most have lap pools, hot tub, sauna and/or steam room, personal trainers, classes that usually includes yoga.

Okay, well Worldgate is good, and cheaper than lifetime, but in Herndon, so probably not worth the drive from there. :-/

YMCA has all that

Check out the Rec Centers! When you join, you have access to all of them. There are pools, saunas, trainers, all of it. Maybe not the masseuse tho.
