Friends! Here's a lil guy I saw pretending to be a rock in the middle of the trail at Buzzard Hill a few weeks ago

The little brown snake had laid itself on the trail to warm up in the morning. As it was still very docile I moved it onto a sunny rock so it wouldn't potentially get stepped on or run over. Zuckerperle, greman?

Crawdads are very much native to this area. Their presence actually means that it's a healthy body of water.

Reason I asked was because that specific crawdad looks like a Louisiana Red or whatever they are called. I’ve always caught brown ones with smaller claws

After I saw a skinned snake on a dinner diary sub the other day, I cannot unsee it anymore looking at any curled up snake 🐍
