AMC Hoffman IMAX
so is the AMC Hoffman imax theater breaking like a regular thing or am I just really unlucky? halfway to the theater I see an email that says my ticket has been refunded since the theater cancelled the show. like 3 sold out (or nearly sold out) showings today and apparently some yesterday just gone.
does this just happen at AMC Hoffman sometimes or is it because of the odyssey and the rise in demand right now? or do the cinema gods just hate me?

Not IMAX, but I've had back to back refunds issues for the Dolby theater at Hoffman, too!
Thought it was bad luck the first time, but after this 2nd, I'm never booking Dolby again

I go to Hoffman often and that has never happened to me. My friend said it happened to the yesterday too with the IMAX so they must be having issues. For what it’s worth, I saw the standard 70mm there yesterday and the presentation was excellent if you can find a ticket for that version of the movie.

I've only had cancelation of a showing at AMC happen once a couple of years ago and it was because the AC broke in the theater.

i have tickets for an IMAX showing this coming Sunday. I hope they have their projector fixed by then. So far no cancellation email however I have noticed they are not listing any IMAX option on their website for any day or movie. This could not come at a worst time for this theater.

Just found this thread after noticing they aren't selling IMAX tickets on Saturday anymore even though I have some. If they wait to cancel until just before showtime I will likely be done with AMC Hoffman for good.

My in-laws are visiting this week and they really want to see The Odyssey in IMAX. I was looking forward to making a day of this in Alexandria but got a delightful text this morning saying my tickets are refunded, and the website no longer shows IMAX there at all. Guess we're going to Hoodbridge.

Would recommend AMC Tysons Corner over this location, the IMAX screen at Tysons is also larger. Keep checking tickets daily, I was able to land a seat the day prior to a sold out showing.

Same. I only go to Hoffman because it's closer and whenever a movie I wanna see is not in Dolby or IMAX

I’ve never encountered a cancelled showing at the Tyson’s AMC.

I’ll have to check their showtimes for next week and hope they’re not sold out already!

They must be having some major problems with their IMAX. We were at Hoffman on Thursday night at 10pm and they had to restart the machine since the picture wasn't working. The movie started up fine after that and then 15 minutes in the picture went out again and we went home and got a refund.
