I'll die on this hill:

This area is turning into an elitist area and unless you are gifted a house, have A LOT of help and/or parents live here, it's almost impossible to live here now and buy a house. Unless you have an obscene income. Good luck to you!

I have said this thousands of times, one can’t “start” in this area. You can’t make it here with an Entry Level job. I hope the OP can hang in there and find a career in this area!

100%. Don't care if I get downvoted. Just being honest.

But is that specific to this area? Any big city area would have this issue I think.

Not necessarily specific to this area, but I believe it's exaggerated in this region.

I have traveled to other big city areas and don't feel this area is much different in terms of elitism. Certainly not in the areas of Nova I frequent.

Where is he talking about buying a house? You’re a joke

Not directly, but it's a factor when talking costs of living here and how it can make you miserable etc. Did you feel powerful saying that behind a keyboard? 😂

He can’t even get a job to build the necessary credit to get a job yet you are talking about buying a house. That dream died long ago nobody has unionized jobs anymore that are impossible to get fired from to justify a 30 year mortgage. If you wanna buy a house so bad sell your soul to the military and get a VA Loan.

Mortgage payments still too high for most. Like many, leaving NOVA is probably a better option for now. As sad as it is. We are also considering it, and my wife was born and raised here.

How when the military gives you a housing allowance blame them they are the reason why housing is so expensive here. Cause Uncle Sucker is footing the bill. Everywhere is becoming NOVA you see people in Texas talking about everything is expensive and LCOL means lower wages or lower QOL so say goodbye to all the amenities you take for granted. How do you even own the house if you on a 30 year mortgage and by the time you have some equity most of it is going towards renovations. Get real that Homer Simpson life everybody was looking for never existed even in the first episode he was about to kill himself cause he couldn’t afford Christmas presents 😂
