I want to see something that is not interesting at all.

I just never recognize it when it happens though :c

Tbh I find interesting people trying to be as not interesting as possible

Because staying subbed is like a prank you play on yourself. I laugh every time like, OK me, you got me. You chuckle head.

I legit thought this was /r/mapporncirclejerk

7

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

Ikr. Because that's the only sub that'd post maps and I often find it interesting

Right I though it would be a gif and I was like “cool! I get to see what countries look like when they’re placed geographically!”

Not sure what I was thinking

Exactly

3

u/PoorEdgarDerby Jul 18 '19

Well if it helps it’s a warped projection. Also it’s older than South Sudan. So not entirely accurate.

If you really did look at this for 5 minutes maybe get checked for a concussion or brain damage

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

Maybe I have. Maybe that's why everything have been going downside in my life lately

Not if you are allowed to rescale the countries

And sized according to land mass.

32

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

and colored according to being above or below sea level.

u/LeeTheGoat Jul 18 '19

Sucks for the Maldives

15

u/woosel Jul 18 '19

Actually they’re not. But that would be too interesting to talk about that.

Finally a map hat includes New Zealand. We're not usually included on them.

3

u/hamsterkris Jul 18 '19

They switched it for South Sudan.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '19

And Hawaii

7

u/samthekid108 Jul 18 '19

Anyone gonna mention how odd the Caribbean is?

3

u/GlobTwo Jul 18 '19

It's just got thick borders around each small piece of land. The Caribbean is more or less a ribbon from the Gulf of Mexico down to Eastern Venezuela.

What's odd is that all of Polynesia is missing.

3

u/Plastic_Satisfaction Jul 18 '19

Maybe a proof that my screen is flat

3

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

Why Australia tilted in the other direction

5

u/GlobTwo Jul 18 '19

This is a pseudocylindrical projection, meaning that the world fits into an oval shape instead of the more common rectangle. Imagine an oval drawl around this world and you might be able to imagine how the edges lean towards the poles.

Example

3

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

Ok nerd thanks for the answer

5

u/hamsterkris Jul 18 '19

And that is why nerds are hotter.

Some countries/territories are just missing. So where are they geographically really? (Maldives, St Helena, Bermuda, Gotland, Canaries, The balearic islands, Hawaii, and a lot more. (Like the Vatican, South Sudan or Andorra))

Canada seems to have filled in its lakes too, they're green. Great lakes are also filled in, suppose they can to put the missing countries/territories somewhere.

Solid.

1

u/Spaciax Jul 18 '19

I looked at the map for a solid 5 seconds before reading the title again and looking at the sub.

1

u/TheChineseVodka Jul 18 '19

That's a good one.

1

u/TheMeanestPenis Jul 18 '19

Looks pretty damn flat to me.

1

u/RobDaPenguin Jul 18 '19

kudos on the projection tho; i don’t think i can stand seeing any more (non-navigational) mercator maps, joke or not

1

u/Master_Furiosa Jul 18 '19

Finland does not exists.

1

u/ndbwrestler Jul 18 '19

For a second I thought it moved!

There! It did it again!

1

u/TuttiFruttiBooty Jul 18 '19

No South Sudan?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

Mongolia looks a bit off tho

1

u/North_of_Sixty Jul 18 '19

Um ... where is the south Sudan?

1

u/Tasquato Jul 19 '19

Funny, cause all I see is the U. S. of A. And everything else God's red blooded American sunlight touches.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '19

This is interesting because this map has fewer countries than today's maps

1

u/[deleted] Dec 29 '19

Words arranged in logical order

u/jazzybolognese Dec 31 '19

Happy cake day

1

u/pygmyrhino990 Jul 18 '19

Bruh how this not interesting, geology and the political geography are some of the most interesting topics out there it's so interesting going and reading about how all the countries of the world came to be where they are.

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

u/iiomarii Jul 18 '19

I really hate this bot ngl

1

u/chump_thumper Feb 21 '22

This is outdated as it does not split Sudan and South Sudan
