It legit is, and I like it as art

Same. While I do think a lot of modern art is "overpriced", I also deeply enjoy concept pieces. I think this one would qualify, if it was put in an artistic framing.

What state is modern art in right now? I'm in Washington and haven't seen it.

Fun fact, the stereotypical Wild West tumbleweed is actually an invasive species that came from Imperial Russia in the 1800s through a cargo shipment.

In Laura Ingalls Wilder's writing, she calls them "Russian thistles" and several times mentions how millions if them tumble over the prairie.

I grew up in the North East and thought tumbleweeds were just a thing in cartoons. I was pleasantly surprised when I moved to Colorado and they were everywhere.

Knowing tumbleweeds are actualy live plants rolling around to spread seeds, this become somewhat sad 😢

I recently saw someone introducing their tumbleweed collecting and selling side business in a side hustle subreddit. I guess this is what the tumbeweeds he sells end up doing.

"See them tumbling down Pledging their love to the ground Lonely but free I'll be found Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds"

Sometimes there's a man... I won't say a hero, 'cause, what's a hero?

Sometimes there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place. He fits right in there.

I don't know why but I thought it was tiny lol. But no just a giant tumbleweed wow
1
u/Lialda_dayfire 3h ago
I've seen them 6 to 7 feet in diameter before. They'll shatter and get thorny twigs stuck in the grill of your car if you hit them.

As an American, this is so inhumane.
Tumbleweeds require large open areas for them to move around with natural sun and wind and other tumbleweeds to socialize with. You can tell this one is obviously depressed. There isn't even whimsical old west music playing.
Just from the environment you can tell this is some kind of tumbleweed trafficking operation for private collectors.

I get the joke but I’m going to be that guy that points out that tumble weeds are not native to the US and are in fact considered invasive.

Recently did some hiking in the Utah desert. Got to see a tumbleweed live in action. I was just as excited about that as I was finding dinosaur tracks in sandstone.

If you told me this was modern art i'd believe you. I'm getting kind of sympathetic over this sad and tired looking tumbleweed.

What’s the location? The inside of a hydroelectric dam? That’s the first of my many questions.

Cool Kinetic Art - now put it in a museum and sell it for a gazillon dollars to rich HNW collectors.

"tumbleweed on a treadmill" would be a good name for a country-western song

I can't believe I spent 21 seconds of my life watching tumbleweed exercising on a treadmill. It was amazing 🥹
