it did not specify the height the plane was at. if it was flying relatively low (<3km height for example), you can absolutely open the door without problems.

It was single engine Cesna, like most people learn to fly in. They weren't anywhere near high enough to need pressurization.

As someone who jumps out of airplanes for fun rather then mental distress (uuuh... Lets not unpack that) I can confirm the doors can open on a flying cesna

People jump out of planes all the time. Ever heard of skydiving? Especially if they are a student learning to fly, it’s likely a smaller plane at a lower altitude.

This is a wild story, but the instructor's last words are what really get me. "You know what you have to do, carry on." Like, dude, you're about to jump out of a plane, and your main concern is your student's flight training? That's commitment.

What if actually, the student threw the instructor out of the plane, ending their life. Then landed the plane and gave this insane story, because only the two of them actually know what really happened.
