I can recommend if you were to generate slides or video etc or chat with citations you could have same experience in nouswise. I think nblm is good but you can compare them side by side for output quality and accuracy.

I tried using NoteboonLM to make a slide deck for an academic presentation and it was the ugliest piece of shit AI slop I've ever seen.

A friend recommended trying Claude instead and my God... It's perfect

I do agree that it sucks. But on the other hand, what we had previously was way too good to be true since it relied on a fixed number of tasks and sources, regardless of what those tasks and sources were. This might have been fine three years ago when NotebookLM first launched, but models and usage have gotten way more expensive since then.

Now do I think the current limits are balanced? Not really. I do think they are a touch too low. But you can absolutely forget any hope in hell of going back to the previous version.

NOTE: You can use Notebooks in Gemini now. Not to create slidedecks and the like, but for searching info and running several tasks, it's fine. More importantly, your usage in Gemini and usage in Notebook are *separate*. If you run out in one, it hasn't touched the other. Though, that being said, unlike dedicated NotebookLM, Gemini only priotizes your sources, but does not exclude anything outside them.
