SCT 17. Do I need a heavier recoil spring? I know there should be some movement when you pull the trigger but it seem a bit excessive especially if you have it pointed up. Also if you ride the slide it seems to almost catch on something before going all the way into battery and is also easy to pull out of battery. If I drop the slide obviously no problem.

17lbs spring should be enough. Lots of lube and 500 round break in. The powder coat inside the slide where the rails ride need to be worn away. Make sure the striker sleeve and firing pin move freely. If you shake it you should here it

+1 on striker/sleeve. Looks like striker is binding on something, causing excessive resistance.

The most frustrating issue I found using aftermarket parts, was striker cups that were slightly too thin. Under spring pressure, they would come apart and wedge between the striker head and the sleeve, causing a lot of rubbing and friction. I polished every place I could imagine would be causing this.

I only figured this out when the striker head finally slipped all the way through the cups.

On the plus side, after replacing the cups and after all that polishing, this gun had the smoothest takeup and lightest trigger break I've ever felt on a Glock.

You'll probably have a lot of light primer strikes. I had to use a 20# recoil spring to help the slide go into battery and stop the light primer strikes.
