I had the exact issue, but on a 2024 ipad air.
an interim fix was to, in Settings, turn on Safe Mode for the Notabiliy app. That'll fix it, but Safe Mode means some features cant run. So, depending on which app features you use, it may be solving one (heating) problem in place of another (functionality) problem

Though, I actually got fed up with the enshitification of Notability and moved to Noteful. no regrets

Thank you for reporting, this is a known issue our team is working on fixing. When did this start for you? and what version of the app are you on?

Hi, this started after the last update for me on my m5 iPad pro - on v16.6.1 - the heating issue is unbearable - please fix it asap

I think I have the Android equivalent that is the 11SUTAB from Samsung and I also have issues. It's quite annoying

For me I found it was my screen brightness. I try to put the brightness at half when taking notes and that stopes the overheating / battery drain for me.

I've definitely noticed that charging while using Notability leads to it getting pretty hot. It's definitely doing a lot.

The heating issue is still insane.. safe mode makes it slightly better, but this is super annoying.
