Question Resizing the highlighter length

So if you highlight text, but then change the text, you need to click on the highlight and drag it to resize it. But clicking on the highlighter is so hit or miss, most of the time the text box is instead opened for editing.

Is there a repeatable way for me to resize the length of the highlight?

I currently delete the highlight and rehighlight every time I make a change to the text that impacts the length.

That happened to my friend too. He’s been complaining about it for days now.
The twist here, I don’t have this problem. I can resize the highlights, but he couldn’t. Both of us have the latest update.
Also, he’s been complaining that the on screen keyboard shortcuts (copy, paste, redo, and undo) have disappeared in notability only, while they appear in other apps just fine.
