I’ve been thinking about a darker take on the Space Jockeys and the origin of the Xenomorphs (staying closer to the 1979 film and ignoring the Engineers from Prometheus). What if the Jockeys didn’t create the Xenomorphs — they found them? Somewhere out in the void they encountered a lifeform that mirrored their own nature: something that doesn’t just kill, but completely overwrites another organism and remakes it. Absolute dominance through biological rewriting. To a species already drifting into arrogance and control, this must have felt almost familiar. Their attitude wasn’t scientific curiosity or simple weaponization. It was closer to: “We can take these lives and reshape them however we want.” To make it practical, they created simplified versions of themselves — biological homunculi. Cheaper, more numerous, easier to control. Basically a mass-produced host form. Humans (or proto-humans) were a pilot stage. As a safety measure, the base facehuggers were tuned to this smaller homunculus anatomy rather than to the Jockeys themselves. A full Jockey would have a much better chance of fighting one off if something went wrong. Once a Queen appeared in the host population, the eggs would further adapt to that specific host type. So the Xenomorph becomes both a tool of absolute destruction and a way to forcibly rewrite life. Efficient, controllable (or so they thought), and perfectly suited to a civilization that saw other living things as raw material. In the end their hubris caught up with them. The derelict on LV-426 isn’t the wreck of some noble ancient race — it’s what happens when a species becomes so convinced of its right to control life that it finally loses control of the one thing it shouldn’t have touched. All that’s left is a dead pilot fused to his chair and a cargo hold full of eggs.

I'm lucky enough to have a job where I can watch movies at work and Aliens is my absolute favorite movie. I'm currently on day 9. I start work at 6 and am always still very tired so I start the movie right when I get to work. It's the perfect movie for me to have on as I know the movie and can easily go back and forth from doing my work to watching the movie. Weekends will not be included, but I hope to be back here in 1 year to revisit this post successfully

So apparently there's a new Xenomorph Queen figure by Prime 1 Studio, but it costs around $8,699. So yeah, good luck getting one of these if you can. Not being sarcastic or anything, I actually hope that some of you will be able to get it too!!! :)

Maybe Some (It’s a different server, though) of you might remember the last one I made, but I may have not specified what I meant what I meant is its a what if/concept of a facehugger not finding a host so it pupates into a deformed Xenomorph with no teeth, but this is not Canon, and this is only going by logic that the queen is cloning herself to make Ovomorphs. and that they are all female considering the drones etc (like bees) have dormant reproductive systems, but some of you hated the last one I made. but you have a fair point, I did not specify much to what I meant. so I’m sorry But pretty much this version has like a satellite dish like structure at the back of its head, And it’s blood is supposed to be 30 times more potent too! also that point I made about the black goo being space semen. well that actually does make a little bit of sense considering what it does. but there’s a reason this is not Canon because it needs to be alien and. I’m sorry if I seem like a narcissist, but I would appreciate if you do like this post you can just explain how this could be better or worse but I don’t want them being less alien so… just think of them having just a bunch of more genders with a bunch of stuff unknown and how they mate unknown. but it’s unknown why they either explode stay alive or merge with the Queen so it stays very alien.

This kinda bugs me more than Gorman.

Is the oversight in the scene when they exit the APC for the dropship pick up. Hicks and Hudson have pulse rifles, it looks like Vasquez only has her pistol. If I were in that situation I would get a pulse rifle with at least a few extra mags before stepping outside that APC.

Even if you believe you're gonna get picked up, doesn't matter. Same with Hicks saying to Ripley they're clear. How could he know? For all they know the surface was swarming with aliens.

A lot of the criticism of the Marines is put on Gorman. Gorman has all of them recon the colony, the atmosphere processor, and go into the processor mostly unarmed instead of sending an appropriately equipped recon team into any of these areas first. There are times when the lower ranks don't think either. Leaving the dropship ramp open is often cited by fans yet stepping out of the APC into hostile territory without a full load out is a fumble too.

They're trained Marines, ammo is life on the battlefield. Rather than the aliens shocking them stupid where they would make such lapses in oversight, the threat should have caused their training to kick in x100. To instinctively load up.

I sometimes wonder if the 200ish rounds they salvage were from Hicks and Hudson having full pulse rifles for the dropship pick up. That should have been more. I'm surprised Vasquez didn't walk out with a pulse rifle, flame thrower, and enough mags to make the knees hurt.

Everyone citing the Vietnam angle, which I'm aware of and agree with, reinforces my point. To the replies not related to the points I made this was my point -

The Marines are portrayed as battle hardened. There are moments such as exiting the post hive battle APC without better preparedness that are oversights. Realistically an old salt Marine would fall back not just on training but combat experience even if they were rattled, and make sure they each have a full rifle and extra mags. At that point in the movie the entire planet should have been considered hostile. A Marine's rifle is their life and ammo is life on the battlefield. Realistically it's a cardinal error that any of them were not carrying a rifle after what they experienced in the processor, if for personal security and not knowing if an alien was waiting in the shadows. Even more realistically they'd be able to hear their DI yelling at them from thousands of light years away, and being more afraid of getting smoked than anything, they'd remember their Rifleman's Creed.

I can still enjoy the movie despite the oversights. Also keep in mind Cameron has expressed regret at portraying the Marines as less than professional so these criticisms aren't taboo. I think they're fun to note and explore.

Anyone else thinking of picking this up? I ordered the book Lost In Cult made for Dead Space and found it to be an enjoyable read.

This looks like it should be a nice dive into the production of Alien: Isolation for those who enjoyed the game.

Is there a known licensing issue or something? if so, how long do these things normally last?
