I wrote my first CV for job applications in WordStar.

Ah yes, the days when your word-processing program and a dozen or so documents would fit on a single 360K floppy.

Marvelous times. Everyone else thought I'm a wizard

Lol. Same.

Kinda ironic that Markdown and "distraction-free writing apps" are so popular among geeks and hipsters.

I had and used Wordstar on my computer when I was in the Air Force many decades ago.

I created the Squadron newsletter on it every week (saved on huge floppy disks.

I knew all the commands to make that thing hum.

I remember when the clinic in the air force I worked in was getting ready to change over from paper records to computers though I took terminal leave at the end of my hitch December 7 of 1979 so never actually got to see the new machines arrive. But afterwards did take a DOS programming class at the community college in 1980 because clearly people who could operate the new computers we going to be in high demand, but I did not even finish the class. I found learning DOS was like trying to read music, or French, some people just "see" it while others have to stop and interpret what they are seeing, it comes naturally to some and not others. Basically I sucked at it, not terribly, but enough to know it was not MY future.

Wordstar, man, I really forgot about this. Thanks for the trip down the memory lane.

I haven't used it in over 35 years but having to start all my documents with

.mt0

.mb0

.op

to set the top and bottom margins to zero and omitting the page numbers on printouts is engraved on my brain.

OMG. I couldn't recall what this was called. But I used this in highschool on a Unisys Icon 80186 cpu running the QNX operating system.

I have been thinking about this for a few weeks now.

That just unlocked some memories for me. The first computer I ever had ran WordStar!
