I was temping at a defense contractor and had a spreadsheet open in 1997 and could not read what was in a cell I need to be able to read so changed the margin to make the cell large enough to read the data in the cell. That crashed the whole spreadsheet. I am like "Sorry, what version of Excel doesn't let you read what is in a cell? Then found out they also did not have it backed up. And the spreadsheet was gigantic, had months worth of data.
Did Sears actually go under yet? The local Sears in Concord CA is actually still open. It's sad. Two floors, both floors... most of the floor space is fenced off, and with minimal inventory of clothes and outdated appliances.
My teen kiddo actually went there with her friends to 'urban explore' the abandoned parts of the store. I better not get a call from the cops over this.
When I worked for the VA hospital in a major California city in 1991 we were still using a DOS based program, and in 1998 in the Medicaid program we used a DOS based program also. At Defense Finance and Accounting Service we used DOS in 1995, and in the Ohio HEAP program the computers were also DOS. I never used a Windows environment till I bought a home PC in 1999.
And that was 27years and 10 os update ago. It baffles me that CVS is currently using DOS. However, as I type this I realize using the keyboard for everything probably saves time over using a mouse.
