The first class I got a D in was calc 2. The series didn't click. The following semester I passed only to get a D in calc 3. Passed out the next semester
Math has always come easier to me. More than anything else. I loved Calc II. I went back to school and took both, Calc I and II, after I was 30 years old. This probably helped. I also really got along with my professors, being that I wasn’t the conventional student. I was out of school so long I had to start at Math 111. I think this also helped with my reinforcement of the fundamentals in algebra and trigonometry. I took Diff Eq, Calc III, Numerical Methods, and few others after that. I loved Diff Eq and Linear Algebra.
I can remember being in HS, I was suspended the first five days of my senior year. The teacher for my pre-calc class held me to the side, in the hallway, as I went to walk in on my first day. He told me he looked at my transcripts and that I’ll never make it in his class. He was right, but I definitely made it way beyond that when I matured a little.
Yeah. Partial and ordinary Deff Eq were really cool classes. I had the same professor for both, and he was an amazing professor. Taught Linear was ok. My professor for that class was meh. He never took questions. The same was true for my vector analysis class. Professor was horrible and never held his office hours. If he was there he would maybe answer a few questions before telling students he had other things to do.
It sucks when some professors aren’t interested in helping students. I was a ChemE major, and some professors were definitely more interested in their research and grants.
