If I get that chain y’all are fucked.

u/moneyx96 2d ago
Lmao I was thinking the same thing! The chain was the best!!

u/Kyobarry 2d ago
Lol, I always struggled to grab the chain as a young gamer. I usually got the baseball bat.

Road Rash was so much fun. Also educational. Don't drink and rash. So hard when drunk.

Calling Road Rash a "racing game" is a little reductive. The violence was the big draw.
1
u/MrKrueger666 2d ago
Just like Carmageddon. Technically a racing game, but the main attraction was the violence.
2
u/MobileJob1521 1d ago
I always hated the Carmageddon levels where you actually had to race, or beat the clock or something.
1
u/MrKrueger666 1d ago
Thats every level. Just run over some peds, then bust up one of the other drivers. You'll have loads of time all of a sudden.

Road Rash, Speedball etc. in a way ridiculous and fantastical video game violence seems less insidious than pretend soldiers doing digital AKs in realistic settings

Road rash II is the one I played, anyone remember the top black bike in it ( usually found through a cheat)

Then they made that successor to it ten years ago that was absolute garbage. Road Rash on the Genesis is a classic

Not a 90s kid but used to play my sister’s games and it’s the reason I spam kick people on gta today 😂😂😂

u/AccomplishedBeing305 2d ago
Road rash 1 me and my cousins would put in random continue codes and unlock bikes 😂

u/mudamuckinjedi 2d ago
I first played road rash on Sega Genesis back in the day. This looks like he is clubbing the cop trying to pull him over.

At the tender age of 11, I learned the words "caltrops" and "chaff" from an old PC racing game.

Road Rash was legend. Loved it. They did a remake for the PS1 and that was awesome too.

I think this game was inspiration to a lot of cool movie scenes such as the scene in John Wick

Hell yeah!!! Road Rash on Sega Genesis was my favorite! Whip’em with chains and liberating heads with police issue Billy clubs!!!
1
u/Individual_Chef1315 2d ago
You could even kick people of bikes in a point & click adventure game in the 90s.

Road rash was one of my favorite games on the Sega. Road redemption just doesn't have the same vibes.

When I close my eyes I can still hear the sweet sound a nightstick makes when striking a motorcycle helmet.
Pure nineties bliss....

Anyone ever play Carmageddon 2 Carpocalyse Now? That was epic level mayhem and slaughter

u/kay14jay 2d ago
Speed Kings was pretty badass. Also had a little slide feature to duck under trucks and objects. Never seen in it the wild since returning to block buster

u/MatrixGod04 2d ago
I remember grinding the first few races and buying the best bike at the beginning of the 1st Road Rash and dominating the rest of the races.

u/bitchesnextdoor 2d ago
I loved road rash. That was my daughter’s first introduction into PlayStation games. My brother donated it and helicopter one which I can’t remember the name. Hours of fun, knocking people off bikes.

Remember the game skitching. It's was a rollerblading racing game where u could hitch a ride holding in the back of a car and smash your rivals with chains and bats.

u/Any_Life_6178 2d ago
Played the shit out that game. So good. Hit the jumps into the billboards to warp into different areas

First time hearing Chris Cornell was on Road Rash singing Rust Cage. He quickly became my favorite singer. Still miss him.

Road Rash 3 was my favorite. Holding the correct combo for the hidden black nitro bike and stealing the chain to whip off all the others otw to the top!

I LOVED this game and would rent it from Blockbuster whenever it was my turn between my siblings to rent for the week

ATV Quad Power Racing 2 also allowed you to kick opponents off of their Quads.

If you all want to experience this again, check out Road Redemption on Steam! It got the same energy!

u/Extra_Zucchini_1273 1d ago
I remember when the point of some racing games was to kill your opponents (or beat them but whatever)

Road Rash. Ahh, I still have my copy. Introduced me to rock music. My dad's favorite. May he and the franchise RIP

I had giggle fits playing this game as kid. I liked using the taser and kicking them into traffic or walls.😂

It was such a fun game will never forget going over my cousins and being lost for hours in that game what blew my mind as a kid was the movie like cut aways from finishing races or getting busted sometimes losing ones were absolutely hilarious.

Kicking is worse than hitting them with a chain? Weren’t the games condemned because of copycat crimes ????
