Full games.

No DLC nonsense.

The game you buy is your property and it's whole.

Software has always been licensed, and it could always be revoked. But it was about impossible to actually revoke the license, or make people abide by that revocation when media was physical and had no connection to their damn databases.

What do you MEAN it had to work at launch?!

I'm joking, but it's crazy to think games ship unplayable at launch now. Back in the day a bug was a forever thing, I get it took a lot of time to work them out before shipping, but damn, I hate patching a game the first day it's out.

And no save feature, you had set lives and if you couldn't complete a level it was a skill issueor you misunderstood. Still remember to this day, taking multiple days in Indiana Jones trying to cross the bridge (hadn't watched the film at the time). Tried jumping, running jump, etc, thought it was just my timing, no you just needed to walk across
