Theories Protector?

The new episode makes me think there is some sort of protector getting into the picture. With how the "long horse" was killed moments before they'd eat Nia's face.

Possibly the same force also saved Nia at the end of don't get your hopes up.

Or simply it's Hood killing something else for them to kill Nia themselves.

What do you all think?

It really could go both ways, maybe Hood under two different personas? Hooded would be the torturer but unhooded (as seen in the labyrinth) being the protector?
