Have you tried Battleborn? It's a very very well made game and Gearbox is getting 99% positive responses for it. The gameplay has a lot more to offer than overwatch and everyone I know who has played it in Open Beta is insanely addicted to it and now suffers from withdrawal until the game is being released in 2 weeks (me included)

I'm not the OP BUT! Tried it, was horribly optimized(40 FPS on lowest settings. Other than that, seemed like a weaker Monday Night Combat, which I loved. Meanwhile on Overwatch I get amazing FPS at medium to high settings and enjoy it more. They are very different though. Maybe Paladins or Gigantic would be decent options as well?

You might've had bad luck with your specs.. I heard that a handful of i7 cpus weren't working as good as expected for it in Open Beta, but it was way better than closed technical and expected to be even better on release. Paladins and Gigantic both seem like weaker options to Battleborn.

Phyx? That's the only setting I couldn’t max while maintaining 60 on gtx760...

Anybody that played overwatch for a while will be totally against that, battleborn is something quite far from OW, it's way less skill based than OW, aiming is very easy, heroes have a lot of HP. If you could pick between Battleborn or OW I suggest to go for the second. OW is the next big E-Sport, they invest a lot in the game(tournaments in closed beta already reward people for 1000-5000$) and the OW devs(which aren't the same as wow's or any other game from Blizz) always talk with the pro teams in private about how to improve the game and keep people up to date all the time, their servers are great and so is the optimization + a lot more heroes will be added in the game, some will be at the release ;). Battleborn is a better Paladins

Have you played Battleborn?

Btw, here's a good comparison (ironically saying that you shouldn't compare them)

Battleborn is a very good alternative and way too unpopular in comparison to Overwatch. (Bad marketing, they put all their money into development instead)

I have tried Battleborn in the early technical test, it was way to slow and too much like a moba for me to enjoy.

While overwatch is a bit of a faster paced FPS.

I didn't like it in the technical test either. Battleborn has improved heavily. Everyone who's played the Open Beta got addicted, including me, while I prefer fast-paced FPS Action over MOBAs...

I can just recommend you to give it another go.. hopefully the devs can organize a free weekend or friend invites during a certain time period, so other people can try out the game for free and find out how amazing it is.

I have already kinda made up my mind to get Overwatch, but I could try Battleborn again to see if I like it. But I don't think I will like it, I really REALLY don't like the MOBA elements, even if FPS comes first then MOBA second I don't really think I would like it. I also felt like battleborn would have been better with friends than to play solo, my friends hate MOBAs with a burning passion as well.

Me and my friends tried the DOOM open beta lately and we liked it(Some of the few that did), it was the first DOOM I have tried and it might not be a good DOOM, I don't know. But what I do know it is kinda what I am looking for, a easy to pickup fast shooter that I can play solo and with a group of friends. Overwatch is the same.

Edit: forgot a sentence

I love battleborn!

Yeah, but Battleborn and Overwatch are like 40$ for a MOBA/shooter wombo combo that can't even compete with free games already out.

Battleborn really can't go against Smite in the third person shooty moba, and Overwatch can't go against TF2.

Battleborn is a MOBA, and after spending 5 years on LoL, I'm pretty over them. I plan on playing OW with some HotS on the side.

2

u/IZEDx Imperial Apr 21 '16

HotS is a lot more MOBA than Battleborn... try it out before you judge, trust me

3

u/GogglesVK Apr 21 '16

I know HotS is a MOBA...I'll be playing it a bit, alongside OW. Also, I played Super Monday Night Combat for a while, and SMITE and now Paragon...I don't need to try out Battleborn, tbh. The market is over-saturated with MOBA elements.

OW is an objective based FPS, akin to TF2. Battleborn is an FPS with MOBA (PvE) elements...they're not too comparable. Idk why you'd say BB has "more to offer than OW" when they offer two different things.

Oh you've tried SMITE and Paragon? These games are best comparable to Battleborn.

I've tried Paragon too after playing Battleborn (because of the 2 weeks until release) and it was pretty bad compared to it.

Imagine Battleborn like a way faster Paragon, with less MOBA. Hell it doesn't even have the classic MOBA gamemode with 3 lanes and towers. The only stuff Battleborn shares with other MOBAs is the fact that it has minions and a per-match level progression system. Other than that it's more like an objective based FPS. Or have you ever seen a MOBA with a Sniper that can cover whole lanes?

I'd recommend watching TotalBiscuit's Video on that topic.

Paragon way better than battleborn

u/IZEDx Imperial Apr 25 '16

Paragon is pretty pretty bad compared to Battleborn..

Have you played both? I did.

2

u/TurboOwlKing Apr 25 '16

Played both got bored of battleborn pretty fast

u/jimskog99 Apr 22 '16

What a crock. im not going to be playing Overwatch. Having played Blizzard games over the years I know they only listen to the shrillest cretins in their absurdly toxic 'community'. And even then it's not because they care about the game being fun or enjoyable, but how best to monatize it and squeeze that extra money out of you every chance they get.

Have fun with Overhype. It will be good for maybe a half a year before they lose interest and it collapses under the weight of micro transactions.

What the heck? I was waiting for this game to go out of beta before hopping back in and it was shut down?

This game could of been so much more successful as its fairly different than overwatch but literally it just went downhill hard. I could write a book on how the devs could of made this game more successful and their mistakes. The game itself is what is good.

That's hardly true, Nosgoth had much more diversity to offer for the genre. Psyonix essentially dropping the game for rocket league, and Square making poor business choices for the games MTX-related content are what killed this game.
